I have been playing my family with the aging and story progression on. When the daughter moved out I turned both off. Cruising thru the town I saw some of the people that had really aged, (one that I was glad to see aged Devil yes LOL) but I was wondering what is really the suggested way that the aging and story progression should be set. I really don't want a lot of people dying and emptying out the town.

I had a load of kids to graduate and now I see them about town in their work clothes but I have had to add some families with kids into the spare lots and empty houses to have children going to school with the daughters child.

I always had issues with EA story progression
Townies dying out and none moving in to replace them

So I got Twallens Story Progression mod and now I can set everything up the way I like it. I add two/three new families per generation of my legacy, but new families move in one their own too.

I hadn't thought about the game adding folks in. I did go in and added several families with kids. I check everyday for move ins/outs and found out that a little one had been born while I had the aging off so I did cut it back on for awhile for the aging. I have the the Y/A, A/Elderly turned all the way up.

Heard about Twallan and it has good reviews. May have to give it a try, right now I manually do everything.
