Don't you just hate when some inconsiderate simmer decides to break the rules of a REALLY good creator?? Because I sure as hell do! Annoyed Some of you may already know the creator Lapiz and have some of his (Idk id Lapiz is a female or not) extremely awesome hairs in your sims games. Well he's possibly not going to be publicly sharing his hairs anymore because of people breaking his rules and converting his sims 3 hairs to sims 2 without his permission. Like the creator Nouk, who has made many ethnic hairs for the sims 2, Lapiz does not want his hairs converted because if the conversion looks sloppy, it looks bad on his part. He's stated that he would convert them himself and people obviously just can't understand that! Jeez! :It__s_Outta_Here:*n Now he's only going to be sharing with friends and possibly only publicly releasing his hairs AFTER he himself has converted it to sims 2 format.

If you want to read his statement heres the link to it: http://lapizrazuli.blogspot.com/2011/11/hair-mesh-6-sand-unisex-do-not-convert.html

I MEAN COME ON PEOPLE LOOK WHAT WERE MISSING OUT ON BECAUSE OF PEOPLE WHO CAN'T FOLLOW SIMPLE RULES AND WAIT!! DON'T YOU KNOW PATENCE IS A VIRTUE!! :cussing:*new*

I think it's sad that creators are having this problem especially when they specifically ask people not to do this. I guess it's just the ignorance of some people in this community ruining it for the rest of us. Its sad really because this creator makes some awesome stuff but just like Tifa did its now on lockdown for their friends only.

Yes because I think that hair is creative and unique but I noticed it was posted on November 14th which means that it probably will never get released unless he's feeling generous this xmas Sad

Oh wow, I love this hair, the texture is amazing and the bone assignment is spot on!! I agree with the misuse of creator's work. We/they put so much hard work, time and effort into their work and to have it just stolen or abused truly makes it all seem fruitless. I wish people would just follow the few basic rules of each creator, stop stealing from fellow creator's, stop putting down other creator's because of jealousy and maybe even there will come a time when creator's will be willing to collaborate on projects together. At the route it's going now it's only going to be a select few that are going to be able to obtain any cc at all. :'(

Myself i understand the rules but as a use to be creator of hairs if someone liked my stuff that much and did that i would be flattered...no one is gonna think badly of a creator if someone converts their hairs and it looks crappy in a different version...all they will think is whoever did this didn't do a good job converting it.

Listen Sims was meant to be a free site items they all belong to EA not to anyone else. So as far as i am concerned if you do not want to share with everyone then do not bother in creating at all.

my hairs her hairs...all belong to EA hairs...so really if someone had a problem with this it should be EA not some person that is high and mighty thinking that because they made something they should have some kind of rules attached to it.

I follow EA's rule and theirs only. As far as EA is concerned if something is made from their product you are not suppose to attach a bunch of rules to it and for that matter not attach a price tag to it. So I do with it as i see fit.

It's just like lemon leaf let them go whine to themselves for all i care. If you do not want to share then so be it go away.

Oh and that persons hairs i have some in my game and to be honest they are okay. All of them make the sims have flat bedhead.

Comments : So a lady goes into a dentists office, gets on a chair and spreads her legs far apart.

The doctor is shocked to see this so he says: "Excuse me, miss, you must have the wrong place, this is a dentist's office."

The lady answers back: "Well, didn't you put my husband's dentures in last week?" the lady says.

The doctor nodded.

"Well," the lady said, "now you have to get them out."

Lapiz's creations aren't pay but I can see how he'd get frustrated with people doing things to his creations that he specifically asked them not to do seeing as they are things that HE took the time to create and make perfect. It's not like he said he would never convert the hairs he just asked that people be patient so he could make them look presentable. He wants his creations to look as best they possibly can. If there were no rules about people copying things without permission then I'm sure we would have tons of people trying to take credit for someone else's work. With LemonLeaf, Watermelon Field and Tifa, I can see how they'd be upset because I sure wouldn't want someone stealing parts of my creations and calling it their own original work but I believe that matter was resolved so they really should give it a rest. Pralinesims made it clear she did copy their work and they were sorry so now everyone knows about it. Mission completed. No need to keep whining.

I prefer to take a neutral stance on the issue - a creator is right in having a certain amount of 'copyright' and 'ownership' over something... but if they want that ownership and copyright to actually work they shouldn't give their work to anyone else. Because people are selfish, and people don't care about you Lapiz (the majority of people) and they're going to steal you stuff. It's the reality of the internet. So... If you don't want something stolen, don't leave it sitting there in public. If I make an awesome piece of art I'm not going to sit it on the curb for people to look at and then just up and leave it - that's what the internet is about, because ANYONE can just come along and take a replica of that artwork and you can't do anything about it.

I just think that creators are incredibly unrealistic about what their community is like. We have a lot of people who would never breach an artist's rules, we have a few that ask permission first, and then we have those (like myself) that will alter a hair texture without the permission of the creator (Peggy, NewSea and Cazy). I am doing this on a pretty small scale, really, and I also have an agreement with NewSea in reference to his pay hairs. But no-one seems to complain when I just abuse the policies of these creators. It's because, in reality, I'm not doing any damage to them or their reputation. It's just pride. They don't like the fact that my version is different - they don't like the fact that I've 'stolen' their work and made it my own, in my own way. If you share it on the internet, then you are SHARING. And the idea of SHARING is to let someone else do whatever they want with what you're SHARING. Only thing that changes is when you're sharing your baby or pet with someone - animal cruelty is NOT cool lol

On a side note, I'm sad to see Lapiz go. But then again... his choice. I respect him for the choices he has made - I can understand why as well. But perhaps he will come to accept the true nature of the internet... perhaps lol

All I really care about, in situations like this (even though I am not a creator myself) is that the people could at least be considerate and ASK the person first. If the say no, well too bad, it's not like your life is depending on you retexturing someone else's hair. I also do agree with a lot of what Dachs and Mary said, you are SHARING the creations and no one would be able to make these hairs without EA making this game. good sigh ^That took some time to write...I am not too fond of typing..

It does suck for people to steal. I hate what it has done to a lot of people: helenae (nice enough to leave a huge download of files for her final post) <- everyone should do that. <- what helenae did because people still want their stuff, you know...

@Sleepy-Genius: I think that should be a requirement! Haha. I hope creators really understand how upset some of us get when they just disappear and their CC disappears along with them. I love that helenae did that, I should go check out some of that stuff, I used to have some!

I was that way with RD when he left. But I found most of his on either Garden of Shodaws (?) or Digital pervision.

More and more i'm convinced that the sims community is not a community at all. Not like The Elder Scrolls community. Overall the TES community is just great. Work is shared, some modders team up together to make something (like tamriel rebuilt, clothiers of vvardenfell, better bodies, etc) and there is a sortkind of gentlemen's agreement according to the mods. Modders ask if you want to use a mod of theirs that you give proper credit and some require that you contact them. Also the knowledge is shared and in general modders don't have a problem if a mod is improved, as long as they are credited in the mod.
Offcourse there are some problems sometimes and there are now and then some douchebags around. Korana (real name is cheryl) had quitted with modding for Morrowind after a nasty dispute with some others. However, she did provide all of her mods some time after it and dumped it on TESnexus.
And now the real old mods from morrowind, where the creator is long gone, are uploaded to Morrowind Mod History to provide them for those who are still seeking for it. Also, there are at least 4 central mod downloading places: Tesnexus, planet elder scrolls, Elricm and Great House Fliggerty. No need to register yourself to hundred of little sites just to download one or two mods.
The TES community is at least a real community.
But the Sims community is not a community. Many are greedy as hell, selfish, loners, thieves and have no intention to work together. I'm sorry to say that, but that is what i see. Actually the so called community is more like Polynesia or Micronesia with small islands. And it is often I, I and I alone. Blegh. Maybe it's due to EA's nature, which is greedy themself and actually doesn't care what is happening. There is a rule that all of the content belongs to EA, but they don't do much with it. That's why illegal sites like TSR comes away with their pay stuff. Bethesda has a clear rule that you are granted to make mods, but you may not charge for it and also don't touch the engine.
I sometimes wish that the sims "community" takes an example to the TES community, but i think that's an illusion. If there was more understanding, a gentlemen's agreement for every modder and more cooperation, then the community could be a real community. Now everyone just do something.

I promise I am not trying to be mean, but it sounds like you don't like the Sims 3 Community. I hope you don't include C-Styles in that category, of the parts of Sims 3 you don't like.
