Ok recently I was going to upload my sim Ira Johar to mts but I discovered that their upload process is VERY LONG and complicated! Not that Im saying mts is a bad site because I LOVE mts but you would have to have some serious patience when uploading things to that site. There are so many rules its not even funny! Like linking back to or featuring pictures of sims with donation/pay items (official EA store content is acceptable though) and packaging the sim in only basegame hair and default skin (which I wish theyd put in the guidelines for uploading a sim). Then theres the whole 2-3day process of a mod reviewing your post and telling you if you need to revise anything before its accepted. Even then if you revise it to fit their guidelines it still could get rejected! Currently my post needs to be revised because 1. She was not packaged in default wear 2. Her hair is a link to metalmoose's retexture of Newsea's Equinoxe hair (which is a pay item). And 3. The pictures are too small.....now let me tell you, I don't know how many times I had to shrink those damn pictures to keep the upload manager from giving me that "file too big" error! So I think Im going to just tell them forget it and stick to posting here and on my blog. Those of you that upload to mts I applaud your patience!

I've never uploaded to mts, and this definitely gives second thoughts about ever doing it. lol But I guess that's why they have quality stuff, and are a trusted sight.

I did once and they didn't accept it, cuz it wasn't good enough for them. It was a celeb sim so after that i gave up.

It seems as though they want everything their own way, perhaps you're just better posting here where we will love what you present no matter what? lol

I've posted Sophia and Rosa there. There rules are simple. Just link back and have free stuff in pictures and on sims. No picture wider / height than 600 or 800 px. Take good pictures with lots of lights. Have normal standing full body picture, and a head to breast shot normal. (normal meaning, no poses, just let the sim stand there not smiling)

I personally have not uploaded there, because I've been too scared of definite rejection. Although, I do love MTS. I just have minor heart palpitations thinking about uploading....-____-.

Their rules make sense seeing as they have to manage so many uploads - but to be perfectly honest, despite MTS being picky, I find much better sims here on Cstyles, generally. But I could just be biased?

Ameenah, the reason you feel that way is because our work here is largely 'uncensored'. Sure, we moderate what gets posted here but not to the point where it has to be presented a certain way or look the way we want it to, freedom of expression is very important in an artistic community, and it will show here The more people post the better people become at posting and creating, the less people post (like over @ MTS for example only) the less they improve over time, and the more they pander to the needs of the admin team there. And whilst the rules might be simple to SG, *BIG HUGS*, they're not always universal, especially when it comes to art. Just look at all the different posts I've made - I've changed my artistic style more than 5 times I reckon lol That's why it's best not to have a team of admin, it crushes people artistically and takes the expression out of art, instead people end up trying to shape their creations to someone else's expression... And how are you supposed to grow as an artist doing that? lol

I was enrolled in art school (for illustration) - and one of the major things I learned was that the students who weren't afraid to make mistakes were the ones who grew the most. Yes, you can make good work by "playing it safe", but that doesn't really mean you'll learn anything. People were either producing work just to please the professor in each class, or thinking they needed to determine a style IMMEDIATELY and never stray from it. Experimenting allows you to produce great work, even if the initial tries are less than stellar. You'll have a better portfolio, in the end.

You're absolutely right. I think the open forum here really does encourage experimentation. There are definitely great uploads to MTS - but it sometimes seems limited to a smaller group of users who consistently post, especially with sims.

Your work specifically has grown and improved immensely in just the past few months. I'm always a fan of your uploads because of the fact that you change things up - with textures, skin tones, etc. That's why you're awesome!

As a current art student, I completely agree with Shyne and Ameenah! LIke Shyne said, Sleepy-Genius has awesome sims, but she seems to have way more patience than I because its a tad much for me. I noticed that usually more sim mods and furniture content and the like gets uploaded to mts more than actual sims. Maybe the rules are the reason why? Lol but either way it seems Cstyles is the place for moi! I you all!

I have uploaded a few things there and they are very picky...the photos have to be a certain size and any CC cannot be included with the sims itself. I have uploaded hairs there. They all have to be free hairs...nothing from paysites. I just think you have to be prepared if you are going to upload there that it is a long process.

same for me im really afraid to go there and upload a thing , every time i start to read their rules, then i get bored, its a lot and very very boring for me, even though i would like to be that good some day =D but every place has its own rules, but still i agree with you guys, that ppl have to do mistacks and learn better from it, im for sure learnt alot from what the stupid anons at MS3B used to say hehe

LOL The stupid anons from MS3Blog taught me one important lesson - never give up, otherwise some snot nose 12 year old just kicked your dream into the dirt lol

Wow, I agree with you all! I love MTS also and have been a long time fan since Sims 2 but I have never really wanted to post there. My reason is because I heard of the rules and how they do want your style to be more to 'their' style and as mentioned, I think you lose a level of your very own creativity when you have to conform so much just to display your work. Someone offered one time that I should upload my sims to MTS but I declined politely. It seems we have a ton of artist here with some serious quality and creativity and I've also seen many of you grow. I've grown and hope to continue to do so. I won't lie to anyone if I see their work is not exactly perfect and way behind some of the more crafted creator's because I see that is how people grow.
I know Cstyles has helped several people because we don't just 'accept' that somone has posted a new creation, we speak out on it, in a positive way and give them our thoughts. Yep, ms3b anon bullies can be horrid but it shows you whether you have the balls to actually share your creations and deal with criticism, no matter how harsh. I was bullied by the anons at one point when Joe first started featuring my sims but I hung in there and just continued to do my thing. I almost quit, for a brief second but then I got angry and decided that NO body was going to take my fun from me.

I will never censor someone's creativity, I think that is totally unfair, my biggest thing is presentation. I truly can't stand a tacky display so great presentation is a major plus for me plus helps your creations look better in my op.

Yeah I'm personally guilty of tacky display, but that's mostly because I use GIMP and there's not really many filters that can 'improve' the look of an image lol I'm exploring more and more with borders etc around my pictures and glowing text effects, eventually I will find a style that is ME but not completely tacky lol

Sometimes they're better than other times lol I didn't usually take much pride nor time in presentation before, mostly because I wanted people to see EXACTLY how things looked in game, but now it's time for me to step up a bit and represent C-Styles in a more 'Stylish' way lol

I think you all are correct in saying that uploading to sites like that can sometimes stifle your artistic edge. But what I DO like at mod the sims is that they take technical quality into account also. For instance I've downloaded sims from personal blogs, which had nd skin attached but said it wasn't. And they crashed my game. That's kind of serious, because sometimes if you download a sim (even in package form) and it still has a non default skin attached the coding for that skin will remain in your game. You won't know it's there because it's won't show up, but after a while you'll start getting lag in your CAS screen etc. Which will make you have to do a clean install. That's why they say upload with EA skins. I like that they give user's a option to download something or not. Alot of times I will download a sim for my personal game use, because I like the bone structures in the face, not necessarily all the CC attached. That's why I like this site, most of you guys really sculpt the Sims face to make unique features. But I only download the sims that use non defaults that I already have in my game.

Well that's also a case of educating our members, if they do upload something that crashes our game we'll let them know and help them through it instead of saying they can't post it here because it's not quality enough lol

Lol ok I thought I'd revive this with a bit of venting on recent events...I'm going to give up on uploading stuff to MTS Of course they claim that my lover's poses need unreasonable edits -__- "The pictures aren't expressive enough" "Give the name of each pose that comes with the set" (which I did in the pictures)" Lol and some if my favorites, copied verbatim from the message:

Now this mod says this about poses that I said were already released on my blog. So why would I change little tiny unnoticable (and practically impossible) changes JUST for them to be posted on MTS? And another thing....they stated in the message:

Screenshots taken from unfavorable angles.
Sims aren't shown big enough on the screenshots.
Very little contrast between sim and background.

Always make sure to show all the important aspects of a pose. Often one screenshot will not be sufficient to give a good impression of a pose. In that case make two screenshots from different angles."

Yet the mod says avoid pure white backgrounds when it states that they want contrast between the sim and background....Lol why do I bother???

That's exactly right, Kosmo, why DO you bother? Is it to consent to their rape of your artistic talent and your ability to design the way you like, or is it to share what the hell you want with this community and screw the haters? ;) :D

Hence the reason mts continues to decline. They used to be my number one spot for sims 2 cc, but sims 3...not so much, if ever.

Yeah it seems most of the good sim stuff is on Blogs and other sites now. Ugh its still irratating how much they knit pick at all the uploads lol. I'm not going to even try MTS again its just not worth it. I was going for mts to get a bit more noticed as a pose creator but jeez! Maybe I should just ask to have my stuff posted in ms3b?
