(SOLVED)How do you identify custom content? Vide

Hey there,

I haven't made any Sims in quite a while, so I figured I'd make some new ones now after getting Showtime installed. So, I make the Sims, export them in sims3pack & sim files as usual, use the Multi Sims3Pack Extractor by Delphy on the sims3pack, toss the package file into my Mods directory and go to use the Dashboard to identify duplicates (aka the CC I had been using).

Type: Corrupt (Contains another DBPF)

Wait, what?

Okay, maybe the exported sims3pack was bad. Let's try one of my older Sims that worked perfectly before.

Type: Corrupt (Contains another DBPF)

I have no idea WTF this is, but I can't identify duplicates with the Dashboard anymore, which means I can't identify which CC I just used for my Sim. I can't even credit people like this, even less find out exactly which files I used.

How do you guys identify which CC you've been using?
I have a -lot- from a large variety of creators, and half of it doesn't even have thumbnails with names on them. I'm totally lost. I can't just skip crediting half the people. Sad... *Despair*

If its your sim then your have corrupt sims in your saved sims file infecting your new sims..What you will need to do is if you still have their launcher files that you used to install each one is open each sim and look into the files to see who is corrupt and who isn't..other wise the only other way to fix this is delete all your saved sims and start from scratch. It is from downloading a bad sims....

If it's CC items...like hair,clothes,etc..your gonna need to use dashboard on your mods/packages folder as well as your DCBackup and delete all items in red.

If its a house it is the same concept as sims but your gonna run dashboard instead on your library's folder...this will find all houses that are corrupt so you can delete every single one of them....basically a corrupt file spreads like a virus to other files that are the same...so Sims to Sims...houses to houses you make....package files in DCBackup or your mods/packages files not as much unless the new object was cloned off of a corrupt object...Most likely it sounds like its your sims and that would be the very first line in your Sims3.pack...that is your .sims file...so your gonna have to go and delete all sims in your SavedSims folder or go through each Sims3.pack you used to install them with and still delete all sims in your SavedSims folder but only reinstall the ones that are not corrupt.

Really is sucks because i had to do the same exact thing about 3 weeks ago and delete all the sims i have made from the last year on and reinstall only the ones that showed to be fine and delete sims i downloaded...i now no longer download other peoples sims. I only use my own and i check each sims i make to be sure they are safe to share.

http://dachssims.blogspot.com/2012/06/does-anyone-check-their-simspets-houses.html

(Basically if you share a corrupt sim you and going to now infect anyone elses sims that they make from the point they download your corrupt sim and then they share a sim they just made and the madness keeps continuing so for the sake of sharing with others you have to place that first and be responsible and empty your savedsims folder. It wont effect the families you have in your game as they are not in there any longer and they cannot infect other sims now...it will only effect the ones in your CAS bin and not allow you to choose them any longer. You can in game after doing this if you have a favorite sims go back into CAS using a mirror and repack them up once you clean out your savedsims folder and they should then be fine. )

Read more about it on my Blog at the link above...

Hnnng, THANK YOU! THANKYOU!! I cleaned out all the files you said including my cache, and the simmies seem to come out fine in .package now. I can identify CC again! Woo!

I actually had a clean install and CC reset just recently, so I was really puzzled.
I found one corrupt file, that said the DBPF thing, even though it contained no corrupt files by itself (I check all files for errors before tossing them into 'collection' .packages sorted by creator). I guess a package in a package= BAD. So it could have been that.

I had no idea CC could spread like that though, I wasn't even using anything from that specific .package file.
