If they don't show up in CAS it's because you have (maybe) too many sims files in your "SAVEDSIMS" folder. Try to move the ones you are not using to a backup folder. Dont use more than 40 sims at the SAVEDSIMS folder. If they show black skinned is because of the skin used on the original downloaded sims. You can solve this problem by changing hairstyles or cloth styles in CAS, this way they will assume the color of you default skin tones. Eva will show up soon with her magic fingers and write a more complete solution to your problems. Meanwhile try to do what I wrote above.

About the charcoal skin in CAS, please do as Sergio suggested, or change from young adult to elder and back to young adult and the problem is fixed. This is caused because "you" don't have the specific skin tone in your packages folder. About the sim not showing up in CAS, please check if the sim you downloaded isn't under teen or elder or something like that. Are the sims not showing up, when you install sims3pack-files sims through the launcher, or sim(package)-files installed through your savedsims folder, or both ?? Don't know about the limit of sims in your savedsim folder, I currently have 148 sims in that folder, without problems & they're all showing up in CAS.

OK, may have found an answer, besides the uninstall / reinstall. Convert the sims3pack-file to package file(s), using Delphy's Multi Installer ( DL here) and put these files in your packages folder. Check your packages folder if there are conflicts by using Delphy's Dashboard ( DL here), if there are conflicts, solve them by using the Dashboard too. Start up your game and check if this works. Please let me know if this works or not, I can't test this cause I don't have this problem, OK ?? I hope this helps ;)

Yayy !! It worked !! Awesome !! I would recommend only to do this, when the sims aren't showing in CAS, so not all the time. It's meant more like a workaround in case the normal install of a sim doesn't work.
