Ok...here it goes...and I know I'm probably going to upset some die hard Twilight fans but hear me out please...

I've watched all 3 Twilights and look forward to the next one...not like..eagerly...but I'd love to see what direction it goes in.....but......and this is a huge but...it is NOTHING compared to UNDERWORLD TRILOGY!!

As a matter of fact Underworld makes Twilight look like a kiddie fairy tale story that should be on the kids channel. Now it is entertaining...but didn't have me clenching my butt and stomach in wonderful anticipation like Underworld.

I can kind of sorta see where Twilight was going...but nothing at all close. Which also surprised me...the dude that played the Lucian character in Underworld also played the part of the Voltaire (sp) in Twilight. It seems to me he stepped down a bit for the role however he seemed also like he made a comical character out of his Twilight Vampire!!

So...I've watched every episode of both movies...I'd seen Underworld before...all of them but it had been some time...and that is all I've had on tv today...all day...watching.

Now..strictly on Twilight I want to share some things that I have come to the conclusion of...

Edward....although attractive in his pale, red lipstick with his hair 2 feet tall kind of way...I see more and more as being extremely selfish and almost mentally and physically abusive! He smothers Bella...follows here everywhere she goes and initially got pissed because he couldn't read her mind.

Boo hoo...so that gives you a reason to be a total jacka** to her because she has something that you will NEVER have....her own thoughts. Selfish.

But...........................and a big but....................Bella I see as selfish also. Look at Twilight New Moon...how she used, abused and tortured that gorgeous hunk of Indian Jacob. Now Jacob...nothing but hawt...nothing but giving and not hovering all over Bella...still was able to protect her. Edward...just BUSTED into her room anytime his selfish self wanted too...at least Jacob got her attention by tossing pebbles at her window.



So here we go................SPEAK YOUR MIND PEOPLE....I want to hear others thoughts on this.

First off, I want to say, sorry twilight fans for any words that may upset you in my response.

Edward: I want to ask you personally... Why do you sparkle? Really, it wasn't really very clear in the movie exactly why you sparkle like a care bear or my little pony, but you do. This disturbs me. And frankly, you're depressing dude, I feel very emo just by viewing your face. Like, I really start feeling dark, you should look into getting some help.

Jacob: I'm sorry, but Eff that B word bella dude, you be fine and you're welcome in my bed anytime. Edward aint got you know what on you because you're pure man next to that sparkling fairy boy.

Bella: I'm sorry honey, but people been talkin', and they're saying you... well... get around, maybe it's because you're playin both sids, both werewolf and vampy, or maybe it's something deeper that they couldn't show the kiddies in the actual movies, I don't know, but people be talkin'...

In the same way edward falls in love with bella, I could easily fall in love with my cheeseburger, because falling in love with what you eat is so obviously realistic isn't it?

I'm not sure if anyone is aware of this, but vampires are meant to be scary. I get the creativity here, and trust me, I have nothing against love stories, but it saddens me to see horror turned into sparkling, love-able, hotness...

The closest thing I've seen to realistic vampires was in 30 days of night. They were more like beasts than anything else:

I'm 110% pro underworld. It is full of hot badass action chick that kicks butt and has a flippin' rad and hot boyfriend that tears chit all over the place bish. It is pure win.

A lot of action, truly SWEET action goes on in underworld.

2: Why was Bella so enamored with him in the first place, he totally acted like she stank to the high heavens when he first met her...skipped school for day's, meets her in class...AGAIN...and she is sitting there looking like she is ready to masterbate while licking her lips and staring at him.... GEEZ..THERE WERE KIDS IN THAT THEATRE!!


ThEn...he stares at her while she is standing...oh..idly by her truck and I swear I saw barbeque sauce and a spatula float over his head!!

I've never met a doctor who at some point doesn't have to touch you...whether you are a patient or not... *ba dun dun* ...geez people I was married to one..it's a kind of sorta joke with sexual innuendo to it.

OMG, you're so right cece, when I saw the twilight werewolves I was shocked, those aren't werewolves, those are just wolves, and they're big and cuddly like giant teddy bears that turn into hot, sweaty, shirtless men....

I like both films for different reasons, I like the twilight ones for the romance of it all, and I love the Underworld ones because there is more action and the fact that Michael is a HAWTEE! Heheheh and I like Jacob he is HAWT and HAWT and erm yeah HAWTEEE. Ahem but Im afraid my favourite vampire is Damon Salvatore OMG the man is er now whats the word Im looking for oh yes HAWT.

Hmmm the old Twilight debate again....and before the silliness starts yep I love Edward and Twilight but nope I dont have the inane need for anyone else to like it as I'm an individual and prefer to actually like my own stuff than become part of the herd aka sheep...and no you have not offended me because something as unimportant as someones views on a book doesn't effect me that much as I'm an adult lmao and can quite deal with the fact that everyone likes different things and the world would be a boring place if the clones really did take over lol....Ok I'm putting my two cents in here A: Because I love both films and B because you can't even compare the two!

Firstly Underworld is a darker film that looks at the social standing order and structure of a race of vampires if there was one in the real world...it also explores the werewolf fued that has become wrapped with vampire folklore even though historically there is no proof the two stories ever collided. Underworld also has the love story between Michael and Selene as the undercurrent of the movie or minor arc to those of us who know about story telling.

Now Twilight is aimed at Teens and is not meant to be a horror movie which Underworld was advertised as and is therefore in that category of film...Twilight follows the love story between vampire and human as it's major arc and the action as it's minor arc so it's less fast paced and more feeling based. Twilight is Romeo and Juliet for the vampire romance obsessed...two lovers who's races instead of families are what comes between them and their love ultimately ends in death...though in the case of Twilight it's only one character who dies.

Now the werewolves...lmao how can you even compare the two....Underworld has Lycans...the definition of lycan is a wolf/ human creature who walks upright and is tied to the moon...Twilight has wolves....if you read properly they have never been called werewolves (the other name for lycans) and in the last book (I think or it was the third I can't rightly remember) Edward explains that the Quileute Pack (and Quileute legend states that they did in fact shape shift in earlier times in the form of wolves) are not 'moon children' (Twilights word for werewolves) and are in fact shapeshifters who are a totally different species to those who dont know what they're talking about lol...the defintion of shape shifter is a being or entity who can change it's shape into that of another living creature and throughout history those creatures have typically been bats, cats or wolves/dogs. So how do you compare the two when they dont even have the same body structure or mythical history....

TWILIGHT LOOKS LIKE A KIDDIE STORY...well folks it is a story aimed at younger people so it would look like that and compared to a horror which is aimed at 18+ it would look tame and for those who like gore or fast paced stories probably boring but you can't possibly watch a 12 rated film and expect to get the same thrill as the 18 rated one....that would be utterly rediculous and pointless of yourself as it's never going to happen and neither film is aimed at the same audience. But if you're a person who watches a film for it's storyline then you can apreciate both films without making the assumption they are in the same catergory.

An no I'm not upset or angry that someone disses Twilight (it gets done everyday and it seems to be the "Craze" or considered cool to do so) everyone SHOULD have their own thoughts and opinions and as humans we are inherintely given them as our basic human rights what really grinds my gears is when people slap mythology together without even a hint of knowledge of what their on about and compare the two things...it would be like comparing a lemon to a potato...sure they're both food but thats where the similarities end...and just like Twilight and Underworld they both contain vampires but thats where their similarities end......

I can go on and on about the mythology of vampires and werewolves and even shapeshifters as I've studied all three and am currently gaining a degree in that area of creative writing and I felt the need to correct one of the biggest and most common mistakes made by people who compare the two films....well I hope I haven't offended anyone but like I said I felt it needed correcting as I've seen way too many people run with the misconception that it's beyond a joke now lol and also it's freedom of speech and I like all others have my own opinions and am entitled to them also

I agree with Q. Twilight is most definitly aimed at younger teens whereas Underworld is definitly more Adult. As Q said they go into different mythologies and take on different forms/characteristics of Vampires and such.

Personally I love both movies for different reasons. Underworld is darker and crueler whereas Twilight is intense and romantic ( as much as I hate Bella and her bad acting).

The misconception that the wolves in Twilight are "weres" is everywhere and easily done unless you're into myths and legends you wont know the difference. The quileute can shift into ANY animal they choose, not just a wolf a wolf seems to be what they identify with.

Ok firstly it seems as though you are basing your theories and knowledge more on the 'book' version of Twilight than the 'movie' itself. This is about the movie...not the book version which I understand the movie was made from the book....I know also they tend to change things around when making a movie from a book...such as Harry Potter. Very close storyline...but not entirely the same in parts.

But I've watched Underworld Trilogy ALL day today and have it recorded on my DVR....so I can watch it again...but BOTH movies do at some point refer to wolves as 'werewolves'

Jacob called himself a werewolf in reference to what he was; as well as Bella. And the reference of werewolves was used in Underworld as well. Shape shifter was used also in both movies as well as a definition.

Now...comparing the two...I'm not basing my comparisons soley on each movie but both movies do revolve around the same history and the same storyline. Twilight is more a tame love story between two young teenagers, Underworld also speaks of the history of Vampires and werewolves with more intensity, drama, action and adult content as well there being a love story in all 3.

I see more realism with Underworld for their giving more of a history of the battle between werewolves and Vampires, as well as the transformation in both species...or as Bella calls them...monsters...which I don't see either as monsters...just species...my op again. Underworld shows that the vampires cannot deal with sunlight...period...whereas Twilight...they can deal with the Sunlight but hide themselves from others only because they sparkle and it would be found out that they do exist.

With there, in my opinion, which I'm entitled to also, being so many similarities in the actual 'base' of the storyline, I do see how people can compare the two. It is inevitable that they would be compared, and as you state, by so many...because of this.

Ok I know the Underworld wolves are referrenced to as werewolves although technically they're called Lycans not werewolves as I too have all three movies on DVD and watch them regularly so yeah I agree on that point...

Now Twilight is virtually identical to the books and as someone who has all the books and dvds I know Bella has no idea of the shape shifter back story and neither does Jacob as he is a newly turned wolf...now the storyline which is similar in both book and film states the pack had at one point stopped changing shape and had only recently begun changing once more (not because of the moon as werewolves do) because of the return of the vampires and all those who watched Eclipse THE MOVIE not the book saw the retelling of the wolf legend and how it came to be and how the war with the vampires was started.....now mythology (not myself) states werewolves have no say over when they change and typically do so when it's a full moon....the Quileute wolves can turn at will and communicate with each other telepathically which I can't recall the Lycans of Underworld doing hence another thing they dont have in common. Another Twilight fact (and this is indeed in the book but will be in the film also if sources are to be believed and the director holds true to the books which they have been doing thus far) Edward tells them they are NOT werewolves and are in fact shape-shifters....sooo nopers they aren't the same creatures as the ones in Underworld.....

Each story thats adapted throughout history takes a little bit of this and a little bit of that to make their own vampires/ werewolves or whatever they're own creations hence why some vampires can't deal with the sunlight and some sparkle all purdy like...and as for Bella calling them monsters what would Bella know she's a twit...mind you later on the stories Bella no longer see's them as monsters (except the Volutri of course and Victoria)...I too have a different take on my own vampires which is nothing like the Underworld, Twilight or Vampire Diaries own little blood suckers. Stories and authors will twist things to make them fit their own story in order to push the novel forward hence why there are so many different takes on what is basically a legend on mythological beings...wether there's any truth to the legends are a different matter...

My basis for my arguement is the two stories contain some of the same mythological beings but very different back stories and histories and a very different story theme action and social status for one and Love and it's consequences for the other so you can't compare something that isn't the same when you look at them deeply enough...also Lycans are not shape-shifters so theres no similarities there either....people are comparing them based off the sole similarity that there's vampires and some sort of wolf/wolf-like creature in them and totally forgetting they are essentially aimed at a different audience and contain two very different major arc themes....another thing that distances the two films even further....when you glance upon the films and their ensemble of "monsters" they appear familiar but break them down and pay attention and they're complete polar opposites and in my opinion shouldn't (as can't is the wrong word) be comapred just because of the fact they contain a vampire etc. and that being the only similarity I find between the two films...

I dont think either of the films histories is more right than the other as they fit the story they are telling and both films do tell the history between the fued of the vampires and their lycan and shape-shifters so neither is better in my opinion as they both serve their purposes quite well.

I love them both also and am not arguing which is better rather they shouldnt be compared due to the fact that scratch the surface and they aren't similar and am rather enjoying doing so LOL

right my views . first i will say sorry in advance if i upset anyone. lol

right i have watched all the films ie Underworld and Twilight and also own them all.

i will start with Twilight. my views on this are i can relate to the wolf side in this film as i'm a big fan of wolfs and werewolfs. the wolf clan to me is quite a believable storyline. but as for the vampire side it's bad acting bad special effects. Edward just looks like a freak aswell dose Jasper. Bella is just an everyday avarage girl.

There aint no one getting upset here just a debate on comparing two films...now Bella being plain and boring and average is just what the author wanted...she wanted Bella to be an ordinary girl that teenage girls reading the books can relate to and she did an Ok job with Bella on that front....but read further into the story (which I know you wouldn't have done although it is told in New Moon from the Volturi) that Bella is far from ordinary and actually a shield hence why Edward can't read her thoughts and Jane can't harm her so I guess Miss Meyer changed her ordinary girl into someone with a gift making her not so average on that front.

On a personel front I wouldnt want to cuddle any wolf or shape shifter from either film as I think they're all gloriously hideous and thats just my opinion....the wolves in Twilight aren't the centeral roles in the film so hahaha dogs you loose lmao I mean c'mon Jacob can't even get Bella interested and that should say something teehee put the dogs out in the kennels and bring in the vampires because for me...my little leeches will always win!

Kate Beckinsale is a pretty actress and she suits the role of Selene but in my opinion there are some films she sucks in too I guess it's the role and the actor that have to mesh before it becomes something good...also everyone has different opinions on whats good or sexy and I'd be seriously worried if your version of sexy was Edward Cullen...I'd think Angie would need to question a few things in that department lmao...

Why thank you...lol....I have never liked (apart from my strange obsession with Jean Paul Leveuq, Adam Copeland and Jeff Hardy) liked buff muscley guys bluergh nooo thank you sir....I appreciate the beauty of guys like Orlando Bloom and Robert Pattinson...they have beautiful faces and delicate looking features and maybe thats why I love Edward too (it was the book that got me hooked not Robert Pattinsons portrayl of Edward)....and have never been a fan of werewolves as much as I love vampires and for my vampire obsession I will have to thank Miss LJ Smith the writer of the vampire diaries...now those books are sooo different from the tv series but I digress and that is not the debate here.....the debate is similarities of which I still find non...or so thin they're pracitcally transparent and therefore in my own opinion is the reason the films shouldnt be compared and now I'm back on track with the topic so ha lol!

NO I said the author wanted Bella to be average or what people call plain and boring as ask most of the general public what they consider average and they'll say something like plain so I DIDNT say YOU called her that at all....so there's an assumption in itself my dear.....and since the books are mainly aimed at a teenage female audience (once again this is what the author aimed for not my opinion) many a male would shudder at the thought of reading Twilight and had you read the book you would know that Bella was meant to appear as average but was actually not therefore leading me to believe you haven't read the books at all or not properly anyway hence my response, view and train of thought not assumption because if you assume something you make an ass out of yourself lol

Underworld is a good action film Stevie...if you like things that verge more on the horror side of genres then I would check it out

Yeah if you're not into those kinds of films then give it a miss...although it depends on what your view of scary is...to me Underworld isn't scary just a good vamp flick but to others it is...and defo tell you friends about it hun I'm sure they'd love it.

My sister is a die hard twilight and underworld fan. I have watched the underworld movies countless times, I have watched twilight a few more times that I would have liked thanks to my sisters obsession lol.

ANY movie is comparable as long as there is no law saying we can't compare it.

I could compare Lord of the Rings to The Lion King if I wanted to, it wouldn't be easy, but I could do it

All this fact mumbo jumbo aside, what it comes down to is opinion. You either like the movie or you don't.

I do not like twilight, I find it dull. I feel they could have made it into something so much better. I still would have had issues with the sparkling, vamps walking around in the daytime, bella playing mind games, and edward being depressing, but it could have been better. The cinematography, fight/action scenes, and the vampires and Werewolves or wolves or whatever the hell they're supposed to be could have been way cooler both in appearance and demeanor. But again, this is just my opinion.

I do like underworld, I find it captivating. It's a tad hard to watch on my crappy TV in the daytime but at night it's raw awesomeness. Who doesn't love a chick in a tight black outfit, holding sweet weaponry, and totally owning everyone in her path?

In the end, I think it's wonderful that teenagers have a movie they can be really passionate for (and adults too if you're like my sissy) I had a real passion for Queen of the Damned when it first came out and Lord of the Rings in my late teens (which my love for LOTR will NEVER die, I'm obsessed). It's nice to love something like a movie or song so much.

I agree entirely with the Mark Twain quote and the fact that everyone SHOULD have their own opinions as clones and sheep are something we have too many of....

The fact Twilight instills so much passion wether it be hate or love is a great thing in my opinion as it gets teenagers talking about literature something that people have said was fading out for that generation....

I agree it could have been so much more had the author taken her time to read about vampires but she openly admitted she'd never done that or read a vampire story and sometimes thats good because for an author it's important for their work to be different and there's already so many day fearing vampire stories out there so kudos to her for being different. I also agree that more character work would have built Bella into something more than a Mary Sue and have the other characters not appear so flat...but would teens really read that deeply into a story or character background? I know as adults we do.

On another side note I also love Lord Of The Rings and Harry Potter and own them all on DVD and LOTR will always be an amazing film but c'mon it was directed by Peter Jackson who's cinematography and films are legend...the scenery in his films are amazing but I fell in love with the story for the struggle and comradary of the characters within the books and then I watched the film and fell in love with Legolas lol the smexy little elf

Hmm...something new learned everyday...so Q you say the author stated that she had never read or studied Vampires...no wonder Edward sparkled!!!! Surely if she had done her homework she would seen how silly the whole notion is.

And me, as an avid fan of Vampire and/or with Werewolves with Vampires being the fav of the two....I've watched everything from the sappy older love triangle stories with vampires, comical take on vampires and vampire movies as well as some that make you even wonder if possibly this could all be more than just a myth...they make you step back and actually wonder.

My daughter is a huge vampire fan as well....she is a teen and wasn't thrilled with twilight's storyline even though she thought Jacob and Edward are both hot.

I'm a very very very analytical person who can tear down movies and shows on a first viewing...I'm the one that see's the mistakes, if not caught on first viewing they are eventually caught. (maybe not all but you wouldn't believe the number of mistakes you can actually spot in movies). It at times annoy's me because sometimes I miss the movie because I'm viewing it the wrong way. Not as a pleasurable show/movie but I'm looking for the flaws and mistakes and blunders. I then go back, watch the movie again...(Thank God for DVR) and try not to pick it apart this time.

Point...in Twilight....the part where Bella is invited to the Cullen home by Edward and he is showing Bella his room, when she tells him she can't dance he then states that he can make her. She tells him that she is not scared and he then states that she shouldn't have said that. (not word for word just breaking it down to get to the point)... He then scoops her up and jumps out the window. When he then gets to the part of asking her does she trust him and she replies, in theory...they swing over to the next tree...if you look close enough you can tell it's the stunt double doing this scene and she fudged up. The person shown flying to the other tree has a ponytail...Bella did not have a ponytail.

Another boo boo...when Alice goes to Bella's house, (Twilight New Moon) because she saw Bella dive into the water....states that she didn't see Bella get pulled out of the water...Bella never said she got pulled out of the water....

These are just a few...

The scene with Alice mentioning she didnt see Bella get pulled out...in my opinion isnt a mistake because she is assuming Bella was pulled out of the water because she was stood right there in front of her.

The bedroom scene which you mentioned is totally ruined because originally they followed the book where after Bella says she isn't scared and Edward replies you shouldnt have said that he immediately pounces on her and knock her into the sofa type thing in his bedroom...the director Catherine Hardwicke didnt like how it looked and pulled the scene from the movie and replaced it with the Spider Monkey scene and therefore IN MY OPINION ruining the entire scene.......another mistake is when in the treetops Edward and Bella are looking around the camera pans out and you can clearly see it's not Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson in the tree but stunt doubles who are bigger built than the actors...another fail on their part....no film is perfect I guess...

Yep Stephanie Meyer stated she has never watched or read anything about vampires and the cullens were all from a dream she had in which Edward appeared to her and told her his story.......

I have to disagree with it (pulling out of water) not being a mistake. The reason being is she saw Bella dive off the cliff...thinking when she saw this that Bella was attempting suicide...so in my op...she should have thought that since Bella told her she was not attempting to kill herself but that it was 'recreational' she should have said...well I didn't see you leave or get out of the water...not pulled out since Bella told her it was not a suicide mission. Did that make any sense?

Ok...I want to talk a little bit about Bella aka Kristen...Twilight...I think she was rather average looking...almost too much so, made me cringe sometimes because she just didn't seem to have any kind of effort of trying to look appealing at least. Now, with New Moon...I thought for some strange and odd reason that she looked a little better, like maybe her face was a little fuller....overall just a tad better...maybe it was because she was just a tad older. Now 3rd installment, I thought again...at certain times, and at certain angles...she looked very pretty...maybe age again...but a def step up from the first movie.

On her acting...blah....little to NO emotion in facial movements, voice and actions. The scene in New Moon when Edward tells her he is leaving and she goes into the woods deeper and she is supposed to be 'sobbing' I didn't see this.

Every time she woke up screaming she seemed to bury head, as if too hide her face and I saw NO tears when Charlie would come to awaken her.

She really didn't have the passion at times that you'd expect her too.

The most passion I can say she showed was when she was at the Voltaire and was pleading for them to not hurt him any longer.
