(SOLVED)Downloaded sims showing in CAS, but coming up with charcoal skin and no custom clothes.

After downloading the gorgeous de Bruyn sisters, I installed them into my game.

In CAS when I open the premade bin, the two sims appear as they should in their thumbnails. I then click on the thumbnail and the sim appears with charcoal skin and wearing a bob from the original game, and a simple t-shirt and jeans (that weren't intended for the two sims by the creator, just generic clothes from the base game).

Coming back to this tech forum, I read another post, which stated to make the sim and elder, then revert back to young adult. This hasn't helped so I decided to make an account and ask myself.

Normally when sims show up charcoal style, it means the skin used by the sim creator isn't installed in (your) game.

Do you have the Watermelon BSF skin (link) installed in your game ??

In addition, some clothes might not transfer in the sims3pack-file of the sim(s) you have downloaded, so you have to download them separately and install them in your game for it to work.

and depending on your game, it would look like the skin did not work at first, but you have to wait a bit, like 10 seconds or so. I just go back to pre-made sims, and the skin usually pops up in time. and the sims looks normal. :D

It's like both of the previous posters said, however if you still want the sims, minus the skin shown with them all you need to do it.

First: change the skin to one you do have in your game.
Second: Go to hair and change hairstyles, any style and your sim should pop into the skin you changed it into.

As mentioned, if you don't already have the clothes on the sim in your game you will not have them on your sim when you transfer. I think the TS3 forum is the only forum that does that, and it's really not that safe for your game.

The same with the hair, if you don't have that hair in your game it will not show up on the downloaded sim.

As far as this aging up to elders and back again...never heard of that helping because if you don't have the skin it's not going to magically appear after doing that. It might change into a skin you do have...but I really don't know that either.

The method I gave you is a sure fire bet on at least getting a normal skin on your sims instead of the charcoal.

Thanks Eva, I went to look at their blog to see if they had reposted it with a new link, just seems to be a page of complaints about another simmer badputer

That was so sweet of you Eva!! Yeah...I have some of their things in game and with my last sim, Ethan...I had to give an alternate to it because it was invite only members who could download. So if I lose it it's just gone. I don't think I will shed a tear though...that is very thoughtless of them!

And yep...Eva is awesome when it comes to game problems!! Just one of her many assets!!
