Okay, I will be playing my game for about 10 minutes and the game will just stop. I can't exit out of the game using the keyboard, I have to shut down the computer and when I go back in, it will do the same thing. Please Help me! I am desperate!

Did you just install a new mod?

I bet its a pattern that you installed into your packages folder and not with the launcher...patterns have a bad way of doing that...the only thing i can tell you is go to your folder and sort it by date modified and delete everything from the last few days that you have placed into your game up to the date that this wasn't happening. That is what i do.

I had this problem.
1) do you have Pets?

2) if so, uninstall.

I had the same problem. it played fine before Pets with Twallan's mods, but then the freezing. I may install Pets later. But unistall Pets, play game to see if the problem is fixed, then if you want, install it back. If the problem is there again, then Pets is the problem.

Also, make sure mods and stuff are up to date. I hope this helps.

It's not pets not if you have used the TSR fix on your files....so its not pets. It is something you have just added...run dashboard to see if there are any conflicts for one..then remove all CC you have installed in the last week.

havint mod or hack or thing that are not updated to work with whatever games will stop the game. that happend to me with outdated mod from anach or was it awt i forget now.
also patterns will make cas spin forever. if it ia pattern that is a sim3package , use that. but if it already a pattern package , that may or may not be ok. it will depends on how it is made with what programs. you can try that in cas and if if the cas works, it mostly likely ok. some just are. but a lot of patterns packages are not. that easy enough to check out , just try in the game , if game cas not working , take it out. ti should work again.
i had a house installed in one world , only house i has in, it was messed up somehow. if one take out stuff of the package folder and put all back in , i think that somehow messes up the world playablity. i had to get rid of that , was fine long as i dindt have that house oh well.
that been my experience with the game so far.

sometime clearing out the cache work out problems too it seems.

do not uninstall the pet game till you fig out what what first. that too drastic . the pet fixer does works like dach said yeahh.

I was just looking through my costume makeup and there was this makeup that makes your Sims face look like they just got electrocuted or something. Its black, here is a picture:

That's the singed face make-up, which is part of the game - you might have enabled unlock outfits, or installed a package that unlocked some stuff normally hidden. But, otherwise, that part is totally fine. You're unfortunately going to have to maybe test one package at a time. :\ If nothing is flagging in Dashboard, then I'm not sure what else. Of the CC you removed, was it mostly CAS stuff? Patterns? Mods?

I removed all the clothes, makeup, hair, and eyebrows I downloaded in the past week.

Were you able to scan the files with Delphy's Dashboard to see if you had conflicts?

There doesn't seem to be any conflicts, corrupted files etc. in the game at all.

Well only thing u can do is add a tad at a time back in...like 3 files and place them in a file in your package folder called temp...that will allow you to know which is causing problems

once it starts again u know which file did it...or at least one of the three...then narrow it down to one of the three.

Hey sorry to butt in on the conversation but I had the exact same thing happen to me after installing Pets. I took so much stuff out and it worked fine for about five or ten minutes more then it crashed again. I thought maybe it was some furniture but taking that out still didnt work. In the end I used a tool called CC Magic it turns a lot of sims3packs into .packages automatically when you use it instead of the launcher. What this does is help alviate lag in your game and crashes because of content. Another tip is if you have your settings high (ie visual settings, reflections etc) turn then down lower while playing the game, this also did wonders for my game and allowed me to play for well over three hours.

So this is my next question, if anyone knows (it may relate to you Sky)

What is the max poly count that you should have in your game? I know having a very high poly count can impact your game. Yes, I have a lot of hair, and cars and such, I'm going through them now. Basically getting rid of pay hair right now. Now deleting it, just moving it out the way.

I just did the combing that Evater has on her site...and i did it with the hairs and such and it saves loads on load time and on freezing and such. What i did with hairs is removed all children and Toddler hairs...Those are ones with the C or P in the name...C=child P=Toddler...you will see it if you sort in dashboard by type of file.

And you did that before compressing? I thought I did that. :/

Personally if it were me, I'd just leave out the stuff you removed if it was only stuff you added in the last week or so. If it's crashing your game then you really don't need the headache of trying to sift through all of it. @Q I checked out CC Magic and it seems like a great idea, it's still in beta and beta makes me nervous so I think I will wait a bit on it, but I wish he'd get it finished!!
Looks like I will just be uninstalling/reinstalling eventually and THEN I most def will compress...mostly hairs and cars to start but at least it's a start.
I hope you get this figured out, please keep us posted.

Hair, for one. It has a lot of poly count. :/
I have some of fresh-prince's cars, you should compress that. I know that they have high poly.

TSR fix is only needed to fix decoration stuff, tubs, beds and the like and then only the ones which aren't updated by the modder.
If the modder has released a new version that should be working with 1.26, then don't use the fix. The golden rule is: if ain't broken, don't try to fix it. Next to that always take caution with tsr stuff.



Just be sure that you use the right version of CC with your game. Especially scripts, like Twallan's mods and Awesomemod from pescado. Same goes for movable items. For example: awesomemod is currently available in 2 flavours; one updated for 1.26 and one for 1.24. Needless to say that the 1.24 version doesn't work with Pets. So grab the one from the first post. Clothes, shoes, accessoires, hair, make-up, tattoo's and patterns aren't affected by patch 1.26 and should work.
And make sure you don't play on a heavy fragmented disk. Also terminate background processes when playing.
