| Subject: (SOLVED)A Question About Sims February 11th 2012, 11:16 am | |
| To members of this forum I am sure my question will be quite stupid, only I have just recently started downloading pre made Sims (I only ever used to download objects) and playing them instead of my own. My question Does a Sim generally come with everything, like a fully furnished lot, or do I have to install everything that makes up a Sim.........like hair, makeup, sliders etc? Oops I have one more question Sims that come in a package file, do I place them in the Documents Library? Only I did that today, but the Sim didn't show up. However, before I had to reinstall my game, this particular Sim did show up, but I cant remember where I placed the file Note to Moderators I think I have placed my question in the wrong section SORRY |

| Ok, if you download a Sim in .Sim file, put it in your SavedSims folder, it will be in the MyDocuments extention. On my computer it has this path: C:\Users\Mary\Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 3\SavedSims If it is in a .Sim file format, you'll need to download everything for that Sim specified by the creator. If it is in .Sims3pack format, just install it using the launcher. I usually just double click on the file, or you can do it the conventional way and save the .Sims3Pack to Downloads. On my computer Download folder is: C:\Users\Mary\Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 3\Downloads. If you install a .Sims3Pack it should install everything along with it, excluding skintones I think. |

| even when you have all the things needed for the sims person you might still have to go in cas and change the sim to look like the way it supposed to be. that mean sometime it hard to find the sim in my cas because it so different looking in other clothes and hairs. all the stuff that come with the sims3pack get dumped in the dccp folder as backup. that the folder that is used when you packed up your sims. and now when you packages a sim it not always gonna work . you need to have the sim cc as extra downloads. something changed in the game , taht what happened to lot of dach sims and so she has links to the sims cc . ah well off to make coffee have a swell day |

Not always...the files in your DCBackup are unnecessary files....but if you choose to not keep them then the sims will not package up with the CC that is needed for them...they don't usually package up right anyway..usually a missing pattern or such. That being said i do not keep anything in my DCBackup file..so my sims only package up with the .sims file. So depending on the creator depends on weather or not you will need to install all items and dress the sims accordingly once the sims in installed...which i highly recommend this way anyway. |

| Thank you Shyne, mamx and dachshundsr4me for your invaluable help Shyne I didn't have a 'Saved Sims' folder, and this was one of the things that was confusing me, because I DID have one prior to me uninstalling my game. It wasn't until I installed a Sim via the Launcher, which then generated a 'Saved Sims' folder OK so I need to install everything again that comes with a Sim Can I have more than one skin in my game and is there a limit to how many sliders I have? |

| Oops should I not have asked that question? It's just that most Sims come with different skintones and sliders, and I have no idea if they will all work together. One of my Sims was all black because I left out a skintone. |

| I'm so glad you got everything solved!! Awesome people on this forum and so willing to help! You placed your question in the correct section seeing that it is both a tech support and sim question, this section is fine. For just 'tech support' then you would have placed your question(s) there. I am going to mark this solved!! |

| lol shucks...i didn't do anything that anyone else here wouldn't have done...When using the Nraas mods...make sure you right click on the Create a Family or Create a Sim button in game....this allows you to override the games default number of Sliders to be used...and will then take you into a CAS that is Nraas enabled. |
