I think it's about that time for me to finally update my game. Yes...I'm terrified....but...it has to be done in order for me to be able to download some of my store content that I have been gifted. I have 2 adorable sets and 2 hairs that are just sitting there.

So, i"m wondering if anyone can walk me through this transition. I need to know what exactly I need to make this change. What mod's need to be updated, what can I expect to experience once I make this change and just any advice on how to do this as painlessly as possible.

Also, if you have any of the links handy will you post them so I can be lazy and not have to search all over the sim community for them?

I've heard your supposed to remove you Mods folder when you update (I always forget to do it lol) and if it doesn't work through the launcher downloading the patch manually helped me (I can't seem to find where I got the latest one tho )

Thank you KL, I'm still needing to know exactly what mods need to be placed in the game to replace the old ones so my cc works. I do remember it being a lot of changes.

Hey, Cece, do you know which mods you are playing with right now?

First things first, you need to back up your save files, of course. You can simply move them somewhere else on your computer, like your desktop. If you want, you can back them up on an external hard drive.

Are they at all separated from your other cc in package form?

I have my CC divided into categories for:
- CAS
- Objects
- Sliders
- General Hacks
- Core Mods

Sliders
If you are using the arm and belly sliders, you will have to update these:

If you are using Jonha's body sliders, you can keep them in game, but keep in mind some might work a little differently. They still work, as a whole. He will apparently update them at some point, but has not yet. If you have used the "chest" (not breast sliders, just the one for chest) slider on any of your sims they might look weird at first. You can simply readjust the value of this slider on any sims that need it. They might appear like their head is either stretched or squished in profile.

The neck thickness slider works poorly after the pets update, and I removed it from my game.

All of the other sliders work fine.

What are you currently using to expand the number of sliders you can have/ the range? Whichever method you were using is likely updated:

Other Mods
I don't think you mentioned playing with any core mods (like Awesome Mod), but find out if you have any other mods like script mods.

Objects
Ok, these all need to be updated in some way, because the patches that came with Pets messed with the rigfile on all objects. This is anything a sim can interact with. Deco objects are sometimes fine, but chances are you just want to update it.

You'll need to get the TSR Rig Fix:

If you have your objects/furniture sorted by creator/website you might find that they have updated the objects for pets themselves. You can download the new files then, instead of running the Rig Fix. Many creators simply used the rig fix themselves to fix the objects.

CAS stuff
All clothing, make-up, hairstyles, etc should work fine. You don't have to touch this stuff. I've heard about Peggy hairs messing up for children/toddlers - but I don't have CC hair for my sim kids. I also think this might only be a problem if you have these hairs installed as Sims3Packs. If you use packages, this should be fine.
