This might seem rather useless, but I've always wanted a slider that would make the upper lip go up a bit, making the mouth appear open. (My own mouth is like this.) I have the upper lip height and lower lip height sliders, but these don't quite get that effect. I guess I want the effect of a toothy lipstick without using a toothy lipstick.

I've never made a slider before, so here's just a quick picture to show you what I mean:



So far, this first try, it works for teens, young adults, and adults. It's pretty subtle. I can post more pictures with different lips, etc. I'm not sure if this would be useful to anyone?

OMG AMEENAH YES! PLEEEASE post it!!! I've been looking for something like this as well! I have the upper and lower lip sliders too because I was looking for something that gave this effect!

Oh, yay, I'm glad you would make use of it! What do you have your slider multiplier set to? I realized I probably should do some more testing since I have mine set to 5. I am such a newbie at thissss.

Truthfully I have no idea what its set to. I just have whatever the master controller/intergration mod is defaultly set on. Lol :p

I'd love this. Although I'd like to be able to open her mouth a bit more, I suppose. It'd be nice with a somewhat big range, so you can make any effect you like. For example, showing off the sharp fangs of a fantasy-related Simmie... or make a slightly big gap for a dorky Sim... :3 A slider like this would offer a lot of new creative options, I think.

So far I've only made it for females, so I will finish up the morph for the boys (don't worry Cece), and post it up asap. I'm thinking it's definitely going to need some tweaking, though.

The screenshot doesn't show the slider at max. I definitely agree that it would be nice to have a lot of options with opening the mouth. I just need to figure out how to do it. I think I'm going to have to make a second slider that also opens the gap horizontally wider, so you can use the two together.

This is my first try, so I'm a little confused/going into unexplored territory here. But everyone is so encouraging, so I'll get my lazy butt to finish this up!

I think it must have been hard to make some of the more complex ones out there, like most of the sliders awt released, but simple sliders are fairly easy. You should totally try it out. I think it's comparable to making poses?

It gets time consuming because you have to edit the mesh for multiple LODs and ages/genders, though. So, for Young Adult, you'll have to do LOD 0, 1, and possibly 2.

In little details, you can uncover plenty of surprises. That's why such small edits like this slider can change quite a lot for some people, especially those who have an eye for the tiny beautiful things.

There is a similar slider in one of MTS sets I think, which controls the upper and lower lip height independently. However, the "bones" that it controls isn't the same as what you did here, making it impossible to do this effect you are looking for.

In other words, I am among those who would LOVE to have this slider in my game.

I just recently realized that there was a slider that adjust height on lower and upper lips, I had NO idea I even had it until I started having problems with my sliders, so obviously I've had it for quite some time. Can't wait to get my problem fixed so I can play with it!

Hey, you guys, I haven't posted here (to the forum, this thread has been...inactive, for longer) for about a week. O____O

I can't seem to make it open any more without severely distorting the mouth. But I made the slider so you can use it WITH the upper lip height/lower lip height sliders which I also have . I believe those are bone-based? This is a geom-based slider. I have no idea how to do a combination between the two. Anyway, if used with those sliders, you can open the mouth wider.

It's finished for females, but for some reason I'm having a really hard time making the morphs for YA Males. It's weird, because it works fine with Adult Males. :O Ahhh.

It currently works for teen-adult for female and male sims. I haven't made a morph for elder sims yet. I might update this later if I'm able to fix any of the morphs to look less off. I'll be using the same hex ID, so you'll be able to simply replace the old version with the new version if I update it.

*Note* This slider does not work well with extremes. I don't like how it's currently working with male lips, especially when aging up between young adult and adult.

Well I do think this slider has some promising capabilities and I don't know if it's possible to make it..."stronger". As in make its range higher without having to use a hack? Also it doesn't play well with Hermi's lipshape slider It's not conflicting or anything it just moves the lips in a way that your slider has little to no effect. Here are the results I got on one the sim I've been working on. I didn't use Hermi's slider on her and sorry for the horrible graphics lol I was testing poses and don't have the HQ mod on since it lags my game considerably:

I actually was thinking of extracting the morphs from Hermi's slider to add it as the "opposite direction" of this slider, except that would be annoying for every sim already made with that slider. This basically moves the same vertices in the opposite direction - so they really won't work together. Hmm, "open mouth" is probably not the right name. I originally made it to mimic the dip in my own upper lip that I have also noticed in others.

I have my range extended to 5x, but when I move the slider past the normal ranges....well, weird things happen. The mouth starts to indent instead of simply raising the shape, causing a hole in the upper lip.

The upper lip height and lower lip height sliders are bone sliders, and this is a geom morph. I think the perfect situation would be some kind of combination geom and bone slider, so the shape could be changed with the geom and the bones moved to create a larger range. The problem is that I have absolutely noooo idea how to combine the two.

Hmmmm...I have no idea if maybe AWT would be willing to help you because I have no idea how to make sliders Even so this is still a very useful sliders to me. I think you should try the first option and see how that works first

Maybe make a slider that moves the same section of the lip but for the bottom lip? Lol maybe call this a cupid's bow slider? Although this doesn't really move the cupid bow part of the lip.

That's a good idea! I called it a "lip cleft" slider originally because it caused an indentation in the upper lip, although I know technically a cleft lip is a totally different thing, but I guess at an extreme this slider does that too.

Yay for creativity! Lol do you also know if its possible to make hermis lip shape slider for the top part of the upper lip? I mean it gives the lower part of the uppser lip a nice "M" shape but not the top. I guess that would be more of a "cupid bow" slider though.

Do you mean, like, pushing the indentation in the philtrum up? I think my visualization skills are at a loss today.

BTW, not sure if anyone wants this, but I made a slider to widen the actual lip dip for YA Females because I needed it for my Zooey Deschanel sim and when I made a Brandi sim by request. aWTs Philtrum sliders only control the lips and not the actual dip above the lips. I noticed the opposite problem in males - the septum was usually way too wide for certain lip shapes, but it was never too thin. So I made a slider to control the width there for my BF's sim.

Making geom sliders in general offers a lot of possibilities, it gets difficult when you have to make them for other age groups/fine tune the details.

:o I'll check those out! And I mean the "V" in the top lip wen I say cupid's bow. Lol when I mean the upper lip having an an "M" shape I mean its overall look. Kind of like the shape of this girl's top lip.

Do you want the cupid's bow to be vertically deeper since aWT's moves it either wider or narrower horizontally?
