So I have the new Island Paradise EP and have NEVER had time to play it up until now. But naturally, the patch that just HAD to screw everything up, won't let the game start up without crashing unless I take out my package files. I have taken out the .tmp files from my DCCACHE and the downloadedsims file in saved sims since it is/was the only non-package file in there. I have troubleshooted and did everything a fellow simmer (whom had the same issues) has told me to, and still no luck. I am assuming you all are able to start your games up fine though? I don't know why this crap always happens to me, especially when I have the free time. If it helps, I have Island Paradise downloaded via Origin and it is NOT a hard copy, so I don't know if it would be a big deal if any of you guys just so happened to know what's wrong.

Any help/suggestions/condolences are greatly appreciated! You guys were super awesome last time. Thanks!

First, do you have any mods/hacks installed? If so, you will have to remove those and then start your game to rule this out.

If you have mods/hacks and once removed your game still crashes, then you may have to just uninstall the Island Paraside ep and then reinstall it.

Let's try this and take it from there. 

patches for digital download requires the origin steam patch and not the patch for dvd ,and mod can prevent game from starting. that happened to me. i figured out what mod hack needed to be updated.it maddening indeed.

your game is digital and that means your folders files are in different places i think . mmm

I had problems after the patch too. I had to painstakingly go through each cc file, mod (some needed updating) and I deleted a bunch of stuff including some houses I had installed that came with a bunch of cc. I also uninstalled any world I wasn't actively using, such as Sunlit Tides. Then I combined all my package files (again) and eventually I got my game running.

I update via launcher...so I've been doing it wrong since I have digital games from Origin?

i seem to recall seeing it said that if one has digital  game download  to use the steam version. cant recall how i saw that now . must have been when i was downloading the patches from orgins . by the way orgins is formerly  known as ea . ooooooooh

we all  use the launcher i think , and we all have to pick which version of the patches to use. am i right or wrong now mm

useful and clear. i never delete . i can move stuff out and back in stuff again, not going to the trouble of downloading over over over again gee

If anyone has had more expensive problems with anything after Seasons and patch 1.49 its me.

Checklist:
Update graphics card
Do you have enough memory?
Outdated Mods
Outdated Package Files
Corrupt ot incompatible Package Files and/or Sims3Packs
Manually Installing Patches is way better
Corrupt or broken dugital download? - yes thats possible. EA admitted it to me and gave me a new digital download
Clear your cache.package files
Clean your dcbackup
Clean your screenshots
Clean your savedsims
Clean your exports

Hope that helps. It did not help for my laptop and i had to reinstall everything up to patch 1.49
It worked on my desktop but sucks the life out of my memory
