Has anyone else ever wished that we could organize the clothes in CAS? I really want to put all the CC in like a folder or something in CAS so that if I wanted to go look for the actual game clothing I don't have to go through a million different things to find it. Same for store items too. I can't wait for the collections folder if buy mode when Generations comes out, even if you can't create your own, it'll still be helpful. I was just curious if anyone else has ever wished any of this too? Embarassed

That is the one thing, or one of the things I truly miss about sims 2...you could easily identify and delete things you know longer wanted. This way is just so messy that they have for sims 3. Frustrating. So they are saying that generations will have a way to make organizing cc better??? Could this be true...?

Well there is a collections folder, but I read on the sims 3 forums during a bit of lurking that it's only for expansions and store content but only in buy mode not CAS. So unfortunately for us it won't be THAT useful. :/ I just wish they would make a way to make CAS more organized! Rolling Eyes

Oh shucks!! Oh well...wishful thinking. It seems like a modder would have thought of some type of program like this...but then again I'm pretty sure EVERYBODY is neater than I am in keeping up with the cc!!

Oh i know, I really wish I could upload the sims I've created, but for the life of me I can't remember where certain items came from. Too bad not every creator labels the thumbnail with their name. That's why I love Icia and Hasel and such because they have custom thumbnails. :D Also, with non-default skins, I honestly don't know which ones are which. Only a significantly small amount of mine are labeled. I'm just a nit-picker. bleh

I feel your pain on that issue! I really thankful for the ones that do label their icons. Makes my un-organized cc much better to handle.

I'm the same way with labeling...I usually make sure that I put info and links up for the main items like, skin, hair, etc...and a LOT of times members have helped me and told me whose items were whose's. Actually any number of members reach out and help there.

I would love to be able to delete cc from cas instead of going through tons of files to find the bad one, I try and keep my cc in folders named by who made them,ie i have a folder named evie and one named allaboutstyle, because i do comps i also have one neamed pic props where all the outrageous stuff goes, but i am not too organised when it comes to hair though lol.......... hiho

All of my CC is beyond organized.

For example, If I wanted to put Newsea's Dreamscape hair in my game, I'd place it here:

Hair
Male | Female
Newsea | Peggy | Cazy
Hair With Accessories | Hair Without Accessories
Insert Newsea Dreamscape Hair Here

The clothes and accessories are even worse, the sub folders go on and on and on!

I usually try to put my name on my CAS thumbnails, Some of my older stuff doesn't even have CAS thumbnails, but my newer items should.

At one point I was adding my own custom thumbnails to other peoples work, Nothing special, I'd just add their name on the thumbnail and save it, this way I knew what I was putting on my sim for when I decided to share him/her.

Now I have wayy to many files to even attempt to do them all. So instead I created a blog called "Evie Index". Whenever I download something I post it on this blog with the link to the item and 1 picture, then I give it a tag like "Eye Shadow" or whatever and post it. I started doing this after I had reinstalled my game and now I have a special little index that I can use to find what I've used on my sims.

I do wish I had a way to put my favorite CC in folders IN CAS, I'd love to put all of Icia's clothing in one folder and AAS in one folder, so when I wanted to use something by any specific creator I could just click their folder and not have to wait for a million CAS thumbnails to load.

For now I just click the little "Custom Content" Icon in CAS, then I only get shown my CC and all of the base game thumbnails disappear. I believe this only works if you're installing your CC in the Documents folder instead of Program files.

Hopefully after generations someone at MTS can create a mod for us to organize our CC better and maybe even an in game CC deleter. Smile

I'd also like something like a description reader, for example:
I click on an item of clothing that doesn't seem to be labeled, maybe theres a little "i" Icon that pops up, I click that, and I can get all the information on that CC, of course the creators would need to start adding information to their creations, but that's not hard at all if you use TSRW. This way they could write something like "Top #034 by Evie @ Eviesims.blogspot.com" and I would be able to know where I the top was from.

Or even something like the little information box that pops up in the upper right hand corner that gives us information throughout our games could pop up when I click on an item of clothing with the information on that clothing or make up or whatever. That'd be nice....

Sigh, now i'm dreaming...

...man... Did I write a book or what!? lol!

Evie, that's a really wonderful process. I wish I would have started that from the beginning, but alas I didn't. So I'm pretty much screwed. :/ Oh well, I seriously hope a modder finds some way to makes something like this, that would be AMAZING. dancing

Evie has OCD so she has NO choice but to be so organized and I wish I had her kind of OCD...I only have mild, localized OCD hence my reasons for my sims to take a gazillion years to upload. I'm so severally OCD when I make them. I think I may be just as bad now with my houses, creating them and even worse...decorating them.

On personal OCD...can't go to sleep or bed with dirty dishes in the sink... it will literally drive me up the wall...trust me...I've tried. I do this also whenever I visit someone...I have to make sure their dishes are cleaned before we all turn in.

It's all good though....but yeah...I'd LOVE LOVE LOVE to see some type of mod made to make reading and recognizing our cc better!! Oh the joy.... good sigh

LOL! At least I'm not alone in the world. One thing I can't stand is when my boyfriend comes home from work (when he has it) and just dumps everything in his pockets onto the table... Oh that can drive a woman nuts I tell ya'! I just hate seeing tums, tissues, change, lighters, receipts and flippin' pocket lint all over the table.

I can't sleep in a dirty bedroom. Hell, if there is dust on the night stand I'll have to seriously scrub that thing down before I sleep. Oh sigh, I'm a clean freak.

I guess thats why I I like to clean out my CC so much. I'm constantly removing everything and reinstalling it. Hence the reason I want this CC identifier to take effect! I change my CC around so much I never know what I have in there, but if I had a way to identify who made what, my life would be much cleaner...

Even more cleaner if I could delete the borked clothing that always seems to sneak into my packages folder...

Oh I know! I have a few items that seriously turn my whole sims' body into a giant red/white/blue/whatever blob. It makes me sad that I can't just delete it, and I have no way of knowing which CC it is. It makes me so mad and frustrated!

I wish I had any OCD, my room is a pit. All of my clothes are all over. I guess I can contribute that to the fact that I'd rather be on the computer or playing sims more than any other normal human. Sims is like my meth or heroin I swear. shame

Evie, I think you should make a tutorial about how you organize your CC, like do you put all of those folders/subfolders into your Mods folder? Do you have to amend your resource.cfg to be able to have all of those folders? I would definitely love to try and make my things just as organized.

I've also wondered how people made their thumbnails in CAS, do you have to use TSRW?

For Launcher Thumbnail - 128x128 in PNG format - place this into TSRW: Project Tab > Extras (click on small +) > Put your Thumbnail using Launcher thumbnail.

For CAS Thumbnail - 256x256 in PNG format - place this into TSRW: Texture Tab > PartHighlighting (click on small +) > Put your Thumbnail using CAS Thumbnail.

Simple!

How create...in Photoshop (I believe also for any programs) - you can open a new documents with or 128x128 or 256x256. Then you can fill background + your creator name somewhere... You can save this as PSD file. After, you can only open it + put your creations. That's all! Smile

I'm just a lazy OCD person xD
my OCD things just don't matter, like my shoes have to be tied evenly tight. Pens have to be capped if they aren't being used, and the little clip I want to line up with the text on the pen. It's silly.

I really do wish we could delete and organize CC from CAS. If I ever get brave and decide to download a sim from the exchange (which I usually just download from friends) it seems the sim doesn't install, but the CC does.... and I don't usually like all of it.

I liked that we could delete CC clothing straight from CAS, back in TS2. Really helped when there were mesh problems or something was just fugs in game and you wanted it out.

I agree with you JK, I hate downloading sims from the exchange (prolly why I started making my own). All that CC that comes with them, borks my game.

I've been pretty lucky with it not borking my game, but I have a few (that I need to figure out WHICH files they are so I can delete them) that are just.. not cool and my townies end up wearing them and it bugs me xD. For example there are these pants that are kind of photoskinned and kind of.. weird looking and then the recolors are the female jeans... on males xD so they look all distorted.
