- A Hollywood stunt performer who moonlights as a wheelman discovers that a contract has been put on him after a heist gone wrong.
The Driver (Ryan Gosling) has no name and no signs of any real personal life. He barely speaks and rarely shows any real emotions. The Driver works as a Hollywood stunt driver by day and a getaway driver for criminals by night. The cars the Driver uses are provided by his mentor and boss, Shannon (Bryan Cranston)a crippled, washed-up body shop owner. On criminal missions all he does is drive. He doesn't plan any of the heist details and he doesn't carry a gun. He gives his clients a five minute window to pull off their jobs and get back in the car. If they do their jobs right and are out in five minutes, then the Driver guarantees a safe, successful getaway. The Driver lives in an inconspicuous apartment complex, in a sparsely decorated room, down the hall from an attractive young woman named Irene (Carey Mulligan) and her six-year-old son, Benicio (Kaden Leos). One day the Driver helps out when Irene's car breaks down and she invites him back home. Over a glass of water, she explains that her husband, Standard (Oscar Isaac) is in prison and she is raising her son alone...

I saw it today, tonight. I came home just now, late. and oh wow, it was horrible and funny in my opinion. It is like the live version of Grand Theft Auto. I love GTA, but not this. I think they rushed this movie. What was the plot? I don't know. I thought that there would be more, um, driving because the movie is named "Driver".
Um, no. There was so so so so so much more blood, slabbing, kicking people in the head, smashing their head, more blood and guts, and knives... and this dude is walking around covered in blood throughout the whole movie, people see him, and they act like the blood and crap is not even there. WTF?
If you know the Los Angeles Valley well, then you can and probably will recognize the areas they were.
I felt like $43 was a waste (I went with 2 other people). The movie theater was nasty for a high populated and popular outdoor mall...
Yeah, just my opinion.
