(SOLVED) Sliders / Mod problems Vide
PostSubject: (SOLVED) Sliders / Mod problems   (SOLVED) Sliders / Mod problems I_icon_minitimeNovember 15th 2012, 7:44 pm

My version of The Sims 3 is 1.39.3 and I downloaded several sims but now several of them were deformed. Some were old and used maybe older versions of sliders and mods that have caused these problems.

I'm doing a cleanup in the folder packages and if you can cite the sliders and mods used normally to download and update to correct these problems.

Thank you for your attention.

the sliders that are geosliders have to be in the download folder already and alway in there for the sims to work. so that one kind.
cmar at mod the sims is good for different levels of patches.you just need to make sure you picked the 1.39 patch versions.

and i would google. i would type patch 1.39 version sliders mods sims 3
as for me im up to 1.42 not sure what is compatible now. yeahh. someone will explain i t better than i can.
but lot of sliders at mod the sims are there for different patches ,i would use the 1.39 versions and whatever else is good for all patches. a mod that good for all versions for example is cmar skin panal for skintones.

I'm sorry that you're experiencing issues with your game and installing sims! Updating mods and checking CC can be a hassle, but hopefully we can get our head around what exactly is causing the problem in your game.

If you're look for updated versions of the actual CAS sliders themselves (not a slider hack) then you won't find any updates.

99% of the time sliders won't have to be touched with updates, this is especially true of geom sliders. The Pets patch DID break a few bone sliders (WhiteRider's Neck Thickness, Jonha's Chest Slider, NikSim's Foot Slider), but the affected sliders have been deprecated and none of the recently uploaded sims at Cstyles use these sliders, to my knowledge, at least.

Make sure you only have one slider hack installed at a time. A slider hack is a core mod. You'll need the hack not only for your game to recognize extra sliders but also if any sims you have downloaded use an increased slider range.

For instance, if you download a slider hack that does not extend the EA default slider range, and then download a sim that was built with a 3x extended range, they will "snap back" to EA default values if you try to edit their features in CAS.

All major slider hacks have been updated for 1.42. It's definitely safe to patch, but please check that you do not have any other old or otherwise outdated mods in your packages folder.

Choose ONE of the following slider hacks:

  1. Nraas Master Controller Base Mod + Integration You need to install integration in order to access the NRAAS version of CAS (Allowing for extra sliders) from all menus. Both the Base Mod and Integration must be installed - you cannot install Integration without the Base Mod. By installing this combo you will automatically be allowed more sliders in CAS - BUT if you want to extend the range, you will have to set this in your preferences for the Mod through the console in game OR by downloading the tuning file linked at NRAAS.
  2. XCAS by CmarNYC at ModTheSims.
  3. S-Club
  4. AwesomeMod - This is my personal choice, because I use it for my general gameplay. However, I don't recommend trying to install Awesome only for its slider hack. It's probably the most involved core mod, and if you don't need it, I wouldn't mess with it.

Updates have been surprisingly smooth with this patch/expansion! I haven't encountered any bugs or issues so far, so I'm crossing my fingers that everyone has a safe, pain-free install! Smile

I've recategorized my CC Clothing and Store Clothing (in .package format) for Outerwear, but have not had hassles besides that.

I am considering, when I get Seasons, redoing all of my cc. I kind of want to remove everything but the mods, skins, sliders and just add back in bit by bit to see what I want to have in game and what I don't want to keep. It will long and very tedious, but I just feel like I've got too much junk clogging up my folder! I don't download as much as I use to but I still have a TON!! Razz

Sometimes I think a reset is a good thing - I redid my CC hoard, I mean collection, haha, in the past a few times and my game was all the better afterwards. If you take your time with it, I think it's worth it. Smile

Well I got XCAS from Cmar, so I dont need another major mod.
For the slider, i created one folder for each one designer. Now I know where is the files.
Well now im fixing the problems in the game and learning how CC, Mods, Sliders work.
Decensor by NRaas is considered a major mod or just slider mod?

Thanks mamx, Ameenah, CeCe for the help.

Yay, I'm so glad you figured it out! When I first modded my game I know I was very confused - and it took me a couple of tries to figure out where things went. Mamx is right, it's easy to collect a ton of CC, so it's good that you're getting organized right from the start! :D

Yay for organizing!

I have my organized folders on my desktop(regularly backed up on an external) but my actual packages folder contains only merged files. If I kept the individual files all in my mods folder, it would be too much for the game to load - even just with the sliders and Mods/Hacks unmerged.

Basically - I have a folder with my CC categorized into folders based on how they are combined:

  • 1.42 Mods *all mods that may or may not be updated with each patch, the only thing left out of this folder is Awesome Mod, because that is often updated weekly. I have 125 files in this folder, which is why I combine them. It takes less than a minute to save the combined package, so as long I keep the original folder with the unmerged files, I have no problems updating.
  • CAS

    • Clothing-Custom-AF-1
    • Clothing-Custom-AF-2
    • Clothing-EA-AF-1
    • Clothing-EA-AF-2
    • Clothing-EA-AM
    • Clothing-EA-Others
    • Defaults *This folder contains any default replacement body meshes, brows, skins, etc, basically default replacements directly related to sims
    • Hair-Custom-AF-1
    • Hair-Custom-AF-2
    • Hair-EA-AM
    • Hair-EA-Others
    • Make-up-1
    • Make-up-2
    • NDSkin-1
    • NDSkin-2

  • Sliders *I don't personally have sliders sorted into folders by creator, but I have renamed them "CreatorsName_SliderName"
  • Tweaks-Fixes-Misc *this folder contains default replacements and fixes that do not need to be updated with new patches. My default terrain, plant, and wood replacements go here, for example. My "Hiders" and "Recategorizers" also go in this folder.

I basically load 20 packages after combining.

If you don't mind my asking, how many package files do you have in your actual mods folder? If the number is greater than 100, you might run into lag after you play a save for an extended period of time.
