How do I put my custom music in my game?

I would like to add some custom music to my game....does anyone know how to do this?

In your Sims3 folder there should be a folder marked as custom music. Copy and paste your mp3 music files in to that folder.

I did that, straight from iTunes playlist and then just moving them from desktop to sims 3 folder, and they would not show up. I think I'm doing something wrong. Maybe it's the format...

Try moving them from where ever you store your music instead of straight from and itunes playlist. And yeah make sure they have the same format as the ones that EA already put in there.

The music files I have in my custom music and mine run fine are MPEG Layer 3 Audio - whatever that is. lol!

Yeah, you have to copy and paste from your pc not from the Itunes list. I don't know what the difference is but there is one.

Hi...it's me again!! Big smile

Ok...I'm looking at the properties regarding the files for the custom music and Ea music already added in the game.

The Ea music is labeled like you have listed above for your custom music, however my custom music is MPEG-4 Audio File (.m4a) so now I have to figure out how to change my custom music from the (.m4a) to the (MPEG Layer 3 Audio (.mp3)...any help with this please?

I just woke up but I'm pretty sure this is the right converter:

The problem is it only does one song or video at a time. If you want to do your whole library then you have to upgrade. Sad...

mine are mp3 music format. windows media or real player can usally convert, record , burn , play, convert. so am i behind the times or something gee. why is kosmo music in a diff format ? is itune or what. i dont use itunes i guess. i know the music can be one kind of format and have different levels of size to it mmm that make the music sound have better sound. lower the number it is the less good it is . that why so many lament the mp3 format i guess. the small it is the less good it is and then people get used to it . not sure them mp3 is working right in my game must try that later mmm.

I will check out both methods, I do have windows media so if it does more than one song at a time I may have to figure out how it works. I've got a Sister who has some serious IT skills although not a Sims player...maybe she can help with the music thingy. Thanks Pdx and mamx!! I will try to come back and do a follow up post when/if I get it worked out!

Hey Cece, I'm somewhat computer savvy so I think I know a solution to your issue. Instead of downloading a whole separate program to convert your music files to MP3 format, you can do it directly in iTunes.

Without having to check to see if Riceaddict is correct or not, Cecesaun1;; I'll bet she is.
The question is about music on a computer - who else better to ask then a teenager?
LOL!!!

I have to ask my 17 year old daughter how to do all sorts of things on my pc and having to do with my Android. I refuse to admit I'm getting older but I'm smart enough to know I'm out of my element.

Thankies Rice!! I will check this out. I don't want it to change ALL my ITunes music, just a specific playlist that I will make for my Sims game. And Pdx....trust me...I totally understand. I kind of giggle when my parents ask me for help with a phone or computer problem, but my Son, who is past the teenage years gets the occasional call from me!!

i wonder when you get to hear the music though. is it just when we turn on the radio in gameplay ?

Yes, when your sims turn on a stereo you click to listen to custom music. That's the only time you hear it.

ah see i will try it later i got osme new one in there it came from ea or the store or one of the game disc . i thought what.it been awhile not sure when it was .eg being true stories or ghosts , cant remember it all wah

I will KK....it doesn't seem all that hard now. I think I will download the program Pdx suggested AND Riceaddict said it was possible to do through iTunes! I will try to remember to post my results! ;)
