The Antique Doll is a scary story about a young girl who receives a strange gift on her birthday.







On the morning of her birthday, Lucy’s mother woke her up and told her a package had arrived in the mail and it was addressed to her.

The girl hurriedly unwrapped the gift and was horrified at what she found inside. It was the most disgusting old doll she had ever seen. It was completely bald and it’s skin was cracked and caked in dirt. The worst thing of all was it’s teeth. They were long, pointy, sharp and beastly. They looked like an animal’s fangs.

With a shiver, she took the doll and threw it in a corner. Her mother scolded her, telling her that someone had gone to a lot of trouble to send her this antique doll. Her mother told her she had better appreciate it.

Lucy tried to protest but her mother would not listen. She forced the young girl to keep the doll. So, to put her mind at rest Lucy stuffed the antique doll into the little cupboard under the stairs, behind a pile of shoes where she wouldn’t have to look at the ugly, evil little thing.

It was not until a few nights later, when Lucy was lying in bed that she heard a noise…a shuffling sound, which went on for about five minutes. Then, a brief dragging noise and finally, a scuttling like light footsteps walking very fast.

By now Lucy was shaking in her bed with fear, unable to move. Then, she thought she heard a faint raspy voice whispering quietly from downstairs. Lucy always slept with the door open and the landing light on, as she was a little scared of the dark.

She heard the voice say “Lucy, I’m on the first step”…And then loud scrabbling again as whatever was speaking apparently turned tail and returned to it’s place of hiding.

Lucy was so scared that she didn’t sleep a wink that night but laid in fear until the break of dawn, when her mother got her up for school

Lucy tried to explain to her mother what had happened the night before, but was so tired that, when her mother passed it off as “just a dream” she began to believe it might be the case.

Of course it wasn’t. Lucy begged her parents to let her throw the antique doll in the garbage, but they insisted that it was a present and she had to keep it. So Lucy reluctantly went back to bed, telling herself that it had only been a dream. She checked the cupboard under the stairs, but the doll was exactly where Lucy had left her.

That night, Lucy fought sleep but she eventually drifted off even though she had fought sleep. Presently, the deep disembodied voice woke Lucy again. She wondered if she could only hear it in her head.

“Luuuuccccyyyy! I’m on the fourth step…”, it said. Then came to scuffling noise and the voice didn’t reoccur that night. Lucy was crying by now, and again she didn’t sleep that night. At school, Lucy told her friends about the doll, and of course they laughed at her. Lucy could only think that if the doll was climbing four steps at a time then there was only one more night to go.

That night Lucy decided to shut her bedroom door. When her mother turned her light out she asked why Lucy was no longer scared of the dark. Lucy replied that she was and could she leave her light on instead of the hall light? But her mother pointed out that her bedroom light was so bright it would keep her awake, and said no.

Therefore Lucy agreed to just sleep without a light. She opened the bedroom curtains instead to light the room a little anyway. Just as she began to doze, she heard the noise.

And then the voice came, very clear this time. “Luuuuccccyyyy! I’m on the top step…”

In the darkness of her bedroom, Lucy heard a click and trembled with fear. She wasn’t sure, but she thought she could see her bedroom door opening very, very slowly.

The next morning, Lucy’s parents found her body at the bottom of the stairs. They guessed that she had been on her way to the toilet during the night and in the darkness, had slipped and fallen down the stairs, breaking her neck.

The antique doll was found beside her body, and was buried with Lucy. Everyone said what a tragedy it was.

“She loved that doll”, said her mother. “Now they can be together forever”.

I don't think I'm going to keep the first picture up long...it's just too freaking creepy!!

Ok so after five long hours of seriously creeping myself out and wanting to turn the screen around I decided on subtle creepiness (which to me is scarier LOL) I also wanted to use an unedited photo so this is the one that got picked *shudders*

Ladies and gents deep within an old nursery in the corner of the room sits an old doll whose paint is wethered and eyes are lost, whose empty stare follows you around the room no matter where you try and hide

This really is a tough challenge; but even more tough because of the awesome talent in the competition !!

Ok so this assignment was really tough, i have no idea what to do, so i went this angle:
Elly always hated that doll on grandma's dresser and now Lucy had dared her to go in and touch it. would she have the guts to do it or will she run out screaming.

Ohhh....I love it!! Creepy!!

This is sooo weird...bringing back memories from my childhood!

It includes some 'magic & sorcery' to make the doll 'life size' (LOL), so most of the details are still there as compared to a 'normal' size doll ;)
I loved putting in some 'magic & sorcery', because of the up coming Halloween !! :D

*hands Chicagostorm a couch to hide behind* not only are the dolls terrifying but so is the competition I'm in total awe of what these guys came up with and in such a short time too, just wish I could get better with GIMP so my photo's edit better lol all of mine are the unedited kind pfft darn me an my ineptness LOL

Here's my entry. I was going for a "sweet but something is really wrong here" kinda vibe. Like when you watch a scary movie and you hear a little girl singing in a sing song voice. It should be sweet but its so not. Oh and she's life size... think my size barbie lol

Awesome pic Eva!! Loving it! Such talent floating around this contest! I went to your blog and loved how you detailed the steps you took in creating your doll, the first doll almost looked exactly like the doll I was talking about in my story! Scary...

Here's the story for my picture:

"And pretty dolls all in a row"
Every morning when Sarah woke up she heard this line chime over and over in her head. And every morning her porcelain doll collection was always lined up neatly, the sweet faced red headed doll always in the center. The sweet one always scared her a little despite her angelic face. She never ever played with that one or moved her in any way. Sarah always had a feeling something terrible might happen if she did. It took years for her to finally work up the courage...
It was Christmas vacation and she realized her room still looked like it belonged to a seven year old. Maybe it was time to sell these old toys. She packed up everything she no longer deemed appropriate... including the dolls. They were nicely packed away in a box ready to be donated. As she fell asleep she heard the tune in her head...
"And pretty dolls all in a row" over and over. She couldn't sleep and had a sudden feeling of being watched. She opened her eyes and all the dolls were lined up neatly in a row. One was missing though. The red headed one was gone and a stuffed bear sat in her place. Sarah's heart raced.
"And pretty dolls all in a row" a girl sang in a sing song voice beside her in the darkness. Sarah never even had a chance to scream... Poor Sarah.

Wow!! I should have added stories with this!! Loved it...was going back over all the pics again and noticed on my second round that you have a dead body in your picture!!! Very clever idea!!

Hmm...these are getting scarily close to my idea...hope mine's different enough...

Yeah, and since we have to 'promote' our entry, I decided to start immediately on my blog, when I posted my 2nd assignment. Also to give simmers a bit of an inside view of the competition and how my initial thoughts, resulted in idea's and finally in submitting the pic for the 2nd assignment.

Don't be to hard on yourself Q~Girl, I think you have a stunning pic and I think you will do well !! I think the idea and the originality of the pic is the most important here and major editing isn't even allowed in this competition. I for one, use only very basic editing. I added a tad more lighting to my original pic, after that I resized the pic and sharpened it a bit and that's all :D

I'm still amazed by the quality of and talent in this competition !!

Just thought I'd add that she is a porcelain doll so your barbies are safe... for now! mwuahahaha!

Phew! LOL was about to ban all kinds of dolls from the house just to be safe LOL...great jobs so far guys your pics totally blow me away

I still want to get rid of all dolls right now! Just a little creepy. I collect dolls, well...I 'tried' to collect dolls, very expensive hobby plus realized that it just wasn't me. I did get like 5 before I decided it was a hobby NOT for me. So I have 2 dolls in my bedroom, my daughter has a custom made doll I had made for her in her room. I have 3 babies in the living room and not too mention the regular dolls my daughter still has in her room.

If I think about it too long I get a little creeped out...AND I MADE UP THE DARN ASSIGNMENT! I scared myself!!!

Luckily none in the study, kitchen or dining room!! My safe havens for now!!

After all these pictures I would be scared to be in the same room as those dolls myself.
I used to have a mess of porcelain dolls in my room when I was younger but they creeped me out too much at night. I felt like they were staring at me so they're in storage now... I think.

The one on the right is so cute! I used to collect Barbies when I was younger had around 50 of them but ended up giving them to my neice *phew quick escape there lol* My older sister had porcelain dolls and they used to scare me so much, especially one that was a clown *twin terrors for me clowns and dolls* I tried to collect the dolls like yours in the pictures but it was just too expensive and I only got one who sits in the wardrobe now, I did like the babies but after seeing these twisted dollies I may change my mind lol

Here is a close up on the doll on the right. I fell in love with him the minute I saw him...more little things so neglected. And you are right...expensive is not the word for some of them. I think I was just trying to find a niche' so to speak but that wasn't it. :x
Now what...I have 5 dolls just hanging around now! Actually glad that I didn't pursue it...where would I have put them all?



I did have fun buying the little clothes and shoes for them!!

LOL I love that pic it's so gorgeous unfortunately my one and only isn't that cute I think I got slightly ripped off, I'll have to see about trying to find the doll and taking a picture. I could have gone crazy if I'd had the money and bought some more especially the little baby ones some of them are so cute, on the other hand some of them are so lifelike that it's creepy they're even putting heart beats in them and things to make them look like they're breathing.

ARRRGGGHHH Akasha that's super scary! I'm totally freaked out now... that picture makes me want to scream wake up at the poor kid if I hadn't read the story an known what an evil little thing she is...an as for the rabbit he got what he deserved...makes me think I'm glad all my dollies got to be princessess and marry princes who loved them forever LOL
