Second floor elevator problems!

I tore down the house I bought in Bridge Port and am putting up another. I put a basement, first floor, and second floor in. My first floor is completed. I put in an elevator on first floor, fine, but can not get in on the second floor. The basement keeps saying can't be placed. The second floor says I need to place it on the terrain.

When reading the short info in Lessons I am puttiing in the yellow terrain but it won't go. Any suggestions, please. I wish they would be a little more thorough with explainatiions for us not so technical folks Embarassed

It won't work for me either. Keeps saying 'Must be against wall' or something, no matter where I place it. It's really odd.

My son gave me word up on the elevator. Make a wall and place the elevator inside it. It needs to be inside the room and you won't get that terrain message.
