The recent rumor mill has spread over the community about the possibiities of sims 4. thats why lots of creators took absences of leave (appearantly) until the sims 4 comes out .

so what are your guys views/opinions on this?

So heres my take on the matter:
Sims 3 has really ruined the Sims franchise name, reputation and credibility. I think if the sims 4 was coming out I would only purchase it if maxis produced it and Will Wright was the head developer.

Its eminent the sims 4 is coming. That's why I only bought the base game. it was clear after the update bugs and the ea store. all they care about is money. I feel like it’s a rat race with the sims 3. Alot things should have been the base game. Not an excuse to add those elements in expansion and stuff packs for more money. Plus the amount of bugs that comes with each expansion is the most in game history. That really shows they are not really focusing on putting quality before their release, everything is rushed and it’s like they don’t care.

Definitely not the noteriority the Maxis Company was known for. Yes there was eps in the sims and sims 2 but that was based on advancements they didn’t make or fixed before.I could honestly be just happily entertained with the base game of both instalments of the sims and sism 2 franchise. When you got expansions there was a VERY short list of things that was vital and not included on the base game I wil only things that were in eps in the base game. which is always the case.

Gameplay-The sims 3 was a good idea. But ideas are nothing if not implemented properly.The customization idea was awesome but game play was completely de-emphasized and thrown out the window. I didn’t create for the sims 2 because I didn’t need to , I was way too enthralled in the game .Now I create because that’s the only interesting thing to do in game. I don’t even play anymore.Wright knew what people wanted and had a distinct creative vision that added spark and interest to his games. The game shouldn't be mod dependent, to make it actually worth playing. Also in lot aspects the sims 2 gameplay was way better, like genetics for example. And they completely ignored storylines of prominent Sims characters and simeology. They could even follow through with the most basic of things.

Tools-Aside from the limitation of the game, At least give us proper tools to create custom content! Bring back body shop! It’s very unmotivating.

Lets use skin tones for example:When the sims 3 came out, I thought at least graphics wise would be on the level of Daz 3d .It wasn’t so I was like fine I’ll make my own skintone no problem. Well I was tragically mistaken .I thought at least it would have the same capabilities of the sims 2. This is it. Its impossible to create skins that are hi- def or more detailed like the sims 2 because they would turn out dirty as seen with face masks. The game is simply not capable. So what’s the point of modifying something that has definite limitations?

I understand not everyone likes realism and many ppl love the cartoon aspect to the sims. But at least give us the tools and options to do so. Daz 3dthe customization options are truly endless. It gives you option of creating pixar cartoonish characters to complete surrealism where you you can’t tell the difference between the 3d model on your screen and reality itself. The same goes for worlds and such. Why not offer this advanced tool separate like body shop if you are worried about space and usability? A I know this type of customization is scary but at the same time it’s really exciting. That’s what “advancements” should look like, they should be ground breaking not slight.

The sims 3 was suppose to be a vast advancement but its took several steps backwards from its processor. This makes no sense. No wonder Will wright never supported the sim 3 from the beginning.

I totally agree with everything you've said here. I really don't think I'll by Sims 4 when it comes out unless it's utterly mind blowing. The sims 3 is just too disappointing.

I don't think there will be a Sims 4 any time soon, probably another couple of years, is what I read somewhere. I don't know about the Sims 4 (yet), I sure will need to know more about it before saying I would stop playing the Sims 3, or preparing for the Sims 4.

Well first of all I just don't know if EA just cares about money but I just know this, I never bought the Sims 2, so i don't know if it was better that Sims 3 , but I own Sims 3 base game, late night and ambitions and I have never had any bugs or glitches in my game. Maybe alot of people get bugs and glitches because they have alot of corrupt CC. I do agree that they add really less stuff and interactions in the Expansion packs and i wish they add more.

I just don't understand why people get bugs and glitches and not me. Maybe because my computer has a high processor or graphic card etc.

Let's see...I've been a simmer since sims 1. I don't remember much about it, it was more comical, not high detail and not something I stayed on for hours! Sims 2 I really didn't have any real problems. The only problem came when they installed the new security called secure rom and that stopped me dead in my tracks then from buying anything further for the sims 2. I also vowed to never buy another ea game as well as long as they used secure rom(sp)

Well..they wised up and with Sims 3 the old security system was gone so I started enjoying the game again...somewhat.

This game, by far has had the most bugs and glitches I've ever witnessed in any game! I've never owned a game and know it more inside than out. Also I've never had to uninstall and re install any other game I've ever owned.

Abeer...The processor nor graphics card or even type of computer makes no difference in whether or not you suffer any game problems. Some people, using strictly a gaming computer have had various issues and I've seem some with computers they say is old as moon dust and the game works wonderfully for them.

I just don't think they put a lot of effort into making the game more compatible as they should have, and they rush everything out. They know we have modders who can 'fix' their mistakes and even enhance our game play so they don't bother.

Will I ditch 3 for 4...it will truly depend on what they put out with 4. If it's handled like sims 3...adding even the basic things that should have been placed in the base game and making you pay for them in expansions...then no...I won't be adding sims 4. If it comes out more detailed and more precise and less glitches and bugs...that's a maybe also.

I agree with everyone, it really depends on what the Sims 4 comes with. hopefully it comes with everything and more!we all know that's what cotton candy dreams are made of and its fun to dream LOL

my only criteria is will wright and if the game doesn't seem like a money pit plot.

Abeer123- I also being playing the sims since 1 came out too. and if you didn't play 2, well your missing out! you try it, i'm sure its WAY cheaper now. I don't play it because I'm afraid I'll get hooked and ditch the sims 3. you have been forewarned

funny thing as they tried to make the graphics universal, 99% of the game glitches are not graphic based they are based on the actual gameplay. which means they could have taken more risk with graphics.

I would absolutely love if they brought back aliens, plant people, and magic. I always loved those about the previous games. I also want them to make it more fun to play the game. Another thing similar to bodyshop would be great also.

i would not buy it. just because i have so much money invested in the sims 3 stuff as it is so i dont want to go out and get hole new sets and everything else.

I'd like to see the basketball playing come back!! I thought that was really fun. And the ability to delete custom content 'in' the game without having to scavenge around my files trying to find out what is what. Oh...make the hair movable again!

I like Sims 3
It has glitches and problems every now and then, sometimes they tick me off so bad I could pull the disk out and snap it in half! lol. But for the most part I enjoy the game. I love every EP that has come with it, and personally I find it more entertaining than Sims 2. This could also have a lot to do with the fact that I didn't know custom content existed until Sims 3, making Sims 3 seem more interesting to me.

If there is a Sims four I will be buying it, if the game play wanks, I'll do photo competitions, those alone make the game worthwhile IMO. Just look at how much better the game looked in Sims 2 compared to Sims 1, and now how amazing it looks compared to Sims 2. Sims four will probably look so amazing I'll have to buy a new comp to handle it, but I really do think it'd be worth it.

TS3 shits me off sometimes with its glitches and CTD'ing til the cows tip over, but I still prefer it to TS2 and TS1.

The sims are so much more better and more lifelike and I love the improvements in CAS. TS2 was far too restrictive. The way this game handles CC is a helluva lot better than TS2 did, but I preferred being able to delete CC straight from the game back in TS2.

I'd definitly buy TS4, it can only get better

i agree.. i'll buy sims 4 if they hire you guys to make my townies, skin, make up, hair lol ...what up with the clothes??? they fit so bulky especially if ur fat slider is newhere near half way mark, everything just looks to fulll.... @lochness ur right it does handle cc better. sims 2 got boring for me after nightlife, it wasnt what i expected... to slow and laggy

For me it will depend on whether I'm still playing Sims 3 and still interested in the franchise/game genre by the time Sims 4 comes out.

I did play Sims 2 but not nearly as much as I play Sims 3, mainly because back then I wasn't that heavily into computer games, and what gaming time I had was normally taken up with playing World of Warcraft, and then was eventually entirely consumed by it when gaming become one of my dominant hobbies.

Once Sim 4 comes out if I'm still into the play style and have the time I'll get it, no use sticking to something that's going to be ceased to be supported, I might return for nostalgia sake like those that reinstall Sims 2 every now and again....just like I install Diablo and play old consoles once in a while, but I'll definitely be moving on with the next generation, will be a few years yet anyways they still have some milk left in this cow hehe

I would hate if there was a Sims 4. It only seems as though the Sims 3 has been around for too little. Having a Sims 4 would ruin the fun...there are so many people here who have advanced the Sims 3 game with CC that they find or created and having a Sims 4 would just suck!

I really hope it doesn't come out! I wouldn't know what to do!!!

The appearance of the sims is way better and really hoping that gets better for sims 4.

The other day i played the actual game. I was reminded of the aspects that make it still better than the sims 2. But I still got bored after wards. which I found which was hard to with the past installements. maybe it jsut got too easy or maybe I need to go buy an ep.OR maybe that's what the want me to do>=) * evil music plays inthe backgorund*

I'll probably succum to late night just because I had nightlife for the sims 2. it wouldn't seem like a complete colelction w/o them. I just waiting till EA fixes the routing glitche I keep hearing about.

In general,there already seems to be heavy amount of evidence that EA is working /planning on the Sims 4 title. They have already registered the domain and one of their employees had Tweeted about Starting on Sims 4 as well. However, we all ,know it's not coming any time soon. It may be or may not be announced after finishing developing the packs for The sims 3

The sims 3 title hasn't been in production long enough for a sequel in my opinion. So hopefully like they say it won't come for a loooong time. I'm still not completely happy with the sims 3 expansions. The last expansion that came out (ShowTime) seemed like a total flop to me. I think it was the only expansion between the sims 2 and 3 that I don't want. They should focus on completing (and fixing) the sims 3 before they worry about production of a 4th series.

gamers are all getting older now. we dont want to spend all our time doing this or that with the sims you know. as for problems , i dont fuss so much with mods and things. and im sure many problems are due to bootleg copies of sims game on the computer that bound to screw that up. so hard to to say how much we at fault for. and yes sims has it problems for sure. i was wondering the other day how behind gaming is the sims compared to other games. what did sims creator will say about the sims3.
as for sim4 ugh , it to my mind is just more work than play. thought that sims3 be less hassle to customize than sim2 , it dont feel like it. too bad the sims makers dont make a sim game just for home making design and notthing else that where i think they missed the boat eh. ah can you tell i feel crabby , too much coffee i think ugyh , i have yet to play the heck out of the sims3 im so behind wahhhhhh. panic times grrr

I totally agree with you.
The Sims Franchise releases dates are fairly predictable and systematic. So I would assume we have to wait the 2 to 3 yrs. But they should take their time so I don’t really care how long it takes. I hope it isn’t rushed like the Sims 3 was, so they can make a really solid foundation of game. For example, did see that they didn’t even categorize all the plants in the right place? Its little things like that, much less the bigger things that wouldn’t require you to patch it every few weeks. And yes the Sims ShowTime was a complete disappointment, don’t even let me get started on that

It would make sense for the Sims 4 to be development right now, admiringly early, but it would be logical to assume so. After all the Sims 2 took 8 years to create, and their development was alongside their releases for Sims . It also would make sense for companies not to officially announce anything yet until they are atleast half way there because things fall to changes and it is still in development.

They need to bring maxis back...I think they had better ideas. The non expansion content has been ok sometimes but I think they're running out of ideas now ShowTime shows that fact. Lol I thought with showtime you could at least play as a band on stage but...only one sim is on stage at a time... It's like wtf lol And teens can't be in bands...at least someone fixed that little screw up recently with a mod I expect TS4 to have more stuff in its basegame...like oh IDK WEATHER and pets!! I mean...cmon...those are NORMAL things that should be basegame included after all the time it takes to create the game. TS3 has six expansions in production and still no weather lol. Hopefully this next expansion (which seems to be about magic) will bring weather...but I doubt it.

I think after Showtime, Magic shouldn't follow...it should have came with Showtime and not be another ep pack. I've not had a chance to truly just sit down and play. I go into game and play a little bit and then I'm ready to go into CAS. Lol! I have been playing around with Showtime more because I want to see the acrobats in motion and maybe another career or two and I'm kind of tired of having all the ep's and not even playing them. I don't have pets because I just wasn't interested enough.

I'm silly sick of Katy Perry stuff...it's just super childish and who would even want a town based off cotton candy and candy canes??? I guess being an adult makes me not want to feel as if I'm playing a little 8 year old game.

Sims 4 would literally have to kick ass for me to spend this kind of money. Like everyone else, our budgets have shrunk and money is so tight so I do hope they consider that and put more stuff into each ep. I'd rather have maybe 4 ep's...but they are some serious ep's that are totally mind blowing!! Don't give me 8 ep's that I see that some stuff should have just been included in the previous ep.

And I do hope they do a better job on the base game with Sims 4. The base game got boring so quickly due to the limitations. Thank goodness for mods and custom creators otherwise I would have probably given up long ago on the game.

Well I'm still getting acquainted with sims 3 so I don't mind a several year release for sims 4. Plus, I want them to seriously take their time and have little to NO glitches. Sims 3 has been such a huge chore with all the glitches and updates and patches.

i would stay with sims 3 because i can barely afforded the packs now and i dont think my computer could work with sims 4.

I'm not gonna lie, I'm totally gonna buy TS4 if it comes out...but here's what I'd love to see, although, I'm not gonna hold my breath...

- weather in the base game

- more facial/body sliders as standard...basically what jonha, delphy, and awt have been doing.

- height sliders. I know the reason why they haven't put in a height slider, is because it was too hard to do all the animations between the different heights....but what if they just had 3 set heights for teens through elders. Like short, average, and tall. And some of them would overlap, so they wouldn't really be doing THAT many different animations....like a short teen would be as tall as a child, whereas a tall teen would be the same height as an average adult, and a short adult would be the same height as an average teen, and so on...

- moving hair/clothes

- growing hair...in set stages, of course, so it won't overload the computer...and the ability to turn it off.

- hair length sliders...again, in set stages....from completely bald to ankle length hair.

- the ability to tuck/untuck shirts...or have two versions of every shirt...

- more/better clothes for guys...I mean, wtf EA...and what's with all the high-rise pants and the short shirts...

- the ability to roll up pants/sleeves

- tattoo placement like pet fur designs in TS3

- ability to delete CC in-game

- more interactions with babies

- more stuff for kids and teens to do...generations didn't really help...seriously, they're still boring...

- better routing

- the ability for sims to move stuff out of their own way

- the ability to adjust jealousy/privacy...I know you can already turn jealousy off, but I want different levels, not just on/off. Same with privacy, like family members and really good friends can go into the bathroom while you're peeing/showering, but others can't, or everyone can go into the bathroom (exhibitionists. lol)

- have different difficulty levels...like super easy, where the bills aren't very much and it's easy to progress through jobs (kinda like it is now. lol), all the way up to insane, where it's more like real life and it takes way longer and is more difficult to get promoted, and your bills take up most of your weekly salary.

- have jobs pay once a week or twice a month

- have months/years...like have actual names for the months...

- have the ability to have our sims live in different time periods (possible EP)

- natural disasters

- the ability to swim in lakes/oceans

- working/usable/livable boats...I want real pirates, dammit! lol

- zodiac signs that actually mean something

- better genetics

- have a colour wheel for skintones...they have one for everthing else!

- no rabbitholes...I love the ambitions careers...

- have animals in an EP, and not the base game...I actually like the current EP. Yay horses! But I want farm animals too...ones that you can actually interact with/benefit from (milk, eggs, etc.). This way, the people that want animals in their game can have them, and the people that don't, don't have to get it.

- have all the supernatural stuff in one EP...magic, aliens, ghosts, vampires, werewolves, unicorns, elves, faeries, plant sims, etc...again, this way people that want all of that stuff can have it, and the people that don't, don't have to. Or, if they do put one in each EP, then at least have the ability to turn it off....seriously, all my sims' friends were vampires by the time they were adults...

- have a bodyshop type program that's more in-depth than the one for TS2...maybe like a mix of all the programs modders have made so far...and also make it easier to make CC.

- have the ability to turn pretty much every aspect of the game on/off.

That's all I can think of at the moment...I'm positive there's more, but my head's starting to hurt. lol

Also, I agree with Cece...I'd much rather have 4 large/in-depth EP's than 8 not so great ones. And I wish they'd have them come out a year apart, rather than every six months...

I will be doing both sims 3 and sims 4...i see now that sims 2 is still very much alive.

I don't think I could EVER go back to sims 2 let alone 1!! Lol!! One I barely played to begin with, at least on pc. I played sims games more on console that pc. But once I got sims 2 and saw the possibilities and how far reaching it is I became a sim pc'er FTW!

I think the sims 2 looks weird to me now and just don't think I'd enjoy it like I did at that time. I'm very happy with the sims 3 appearance wise.

I was asked to participate in a survey for ea regarding the next ep, I can't say what it was about but I hope that I explained 'why' I thought we'd enjoy this or that more. Some of the ideas they had....wow...extremely disappointing. So I hope that more chose the better ideas!! I will tell you this, I don't think it's a problem to discuss it since I just added it myself to the comments of the survey. I said that I thought 2 versions of the sims would be better. That way they could adapt one for the younger Sims crew and of course one for us oldies!!

I used to play the sims 2 on my ps2 back in the day too! Like CeCe said once I saw what the PC version could offer I was ALLL over that! Never played the sims 1 though. I ended up waiting for some solid reviews before I bought the sims 3. I was skeptical about what it would be like. I ended up buying it some months after its release because I wanted to see some real in-game playing videos and reviews by people who actually bought the game. I have to say I was amazed with it. Lol I think that after the Late Night expansion things went a bit downhill.

I still play the sims 1 on my ps2...finally got moved into the one guys house that I met at a party...never got to that point in the past. lol I also have the sims 2 for ps2 and the sims 3 for ps3...I don't play them very often, though....I like the simplicity of the first one.

Personally, I played Sims 1 briefly, but hated it. I was also like 11 when it came out, so I couldn't have been that into it anyway. But when Sims 2 came out, I thought I would give it a try, and LOVED it so much! I have since lost all of my game discs, and am not going to buy new ones, but I would love to play it again. I played without CC for as long as it was out. O.o Dear Lawd, I don't know how I did it lol. I think the Sims 3 could be so much better if it weren't for the bugs and glitches. When the Sims franchise changed hands from Maxis, to EA, I think it all went tits up. It is not that hard to fix something glitchy, or buggy, if you know how to do it. I'm sure there are so many Americans out there that would love a job with a computer company, but can't because the current seats are filled up with the fat-cat money makers. Back when the Sims was an "idea" or a "concept" and the producers wanted to see their idea through, and watch it grow, things were great. Nowadays, EA does whatever they think would earn them money. Now, don't get me wrong, capitalism is not bad. But it is only acceptable when you make money off things people want to buy. Selling crap to thousands and thousands of people make you pretty damn wealthy, but it will leave the person who actually bought the game feeling like a sad sap, because he got ripped off. Yet, he continues to buy into the madness, no matter how much he tells himself not to, because he enjoys, like we all should.

So with all the buzz about Sims 4, sure let them go ahead and start making their game. Let them make their money. Let them sit on their fat arses, happily plumped up with our hard earned money. But let them not take the one thing the community might still have: character. The people and members of the community are (mostly) among the nicest I've ever met. Hell, they sure do beat real life people lol. But they cannot EVER take that away from us. And whenever things start to get all messed up, just remember, we make the community. Not them.

But I don't know if I'd buy the Sims 4. I think that everything is happening too fast like with the expansion packs. If it's rushed, it probably won't be good quality (bugs & stuff).

I think i'd stick with Sims 3 because i love it so much, however it depends on if and how well Sims 4 turns out. I tend to go for the games with better graphics, and i believe Sims 4 would have superb graphics though i'm not sure what else they can do to it because Sims 3 is so well done, though i've heard that it's very very similar to Sims 2. I've heard from some people that they just changed from 2 to 3 because of the graphics.

I have done my own research into the Sims 4, and I dont plan on buying it.

I am perfectly happy with the Sims 3. I have worked hard on all of my games and I really dont think that the TS4 will hold as much interest for me. I dont plan on giving up TS3 any time soon ^_^


Besides there is so much about TS3 that I havent discovered yet. I recently bought OutDoor Life, Master Suite and 70s, 80s, and 90s SP and would like to actually get to enjoy them. Not only that, Seasons is my newest EP and I've yet to fully experience that one. TS4 is something I'm not going to even try.

I'll just stick with Sims 3 for a bit. If the Let's Plays for the Sims 4 impress me, then I'll consider buying it. Otherwise, not now. I would love for Maxis to get behind it. EA really missed (on purpose) a lot of hits that could have made Sims 3 more than it could have been.

I hope they pay more attention to the base game, and not leave it neglected. Give us more crap next time.
